Default So, IF Nintendo releases an N-64 classic console...

In taking from Steelmaker's thread about the SNES possible classic concole reboot. I thought doin one about the Nintendo 64 is a must as well.

What would you want the game library to be? Assuming they would follow the same 30 game format, Ill be adding my dream lineup shortly......Got Em!!

Don't hate me for saying this but hard as I try I cannot come up with 30 N64 games I would pay money for. I could name maybe ten to fifteen. I think this is why Nintendo is slow to release them on Virtual Console, not only are most games on the console dated, they typically have vastly superior ports or sequels on other consoles, even the 3rd party games typically have superior ports elsewhere for the most part.

Everyone is going to flood their lists with Wrestling games because that was about all the machine had going for it, since I despise those games and honestly, don't kid yourself not even nostalgia makes those games worth revisiting most of the time, just like Madden or Fifa, play a more current game and customize your wrestler to relive those past battles. That's my view of course others will disagree.

Much like original PS One games, to me N64 titles just don't hold up well enough for me to go back and play them unless Nintendo re masters them kind of the way they did with Majora's Mask on 3DS. My eyes just cannot take those blurry textures in 2016.

I agree to an extent but PS1 does have quite a few hidden gems especially the transition 2.5D games and SNES-esque 2D games. N64 lacks even that redeeming factor. It does have a few that the aesthetics are acceptable even today but only because the art direction and production values, i.e. Super Mario 64, the rest look like someone made stop motion movies out of lego blocks and then shot the camera from behind a screen door and then processed it on a SLP VHS tape.

Just bring out a console with HDMI.

With 1080p upscaling.

And no region lock on the cartridge port.

making a n64 classic console would'nt be viable without the rare library . and if they are gonna include the mario party games, they better make a really sturdy analog stick for the controller

I'd want it to have games I never owned/played, which is a small number. I own more N64 games than any other Nintendo console.

Well you'd obviously have all of Nintendo's first party titles (Mario 64, the Zeldas, Pilotwings 64, F-Zero X, etc.)

I'm not sure about the Rare titles anymore, aside from Donkey Kong 64, seeing as Microsoft seems to own the rights to them (please correct me if this isn't the case). Getting Goldeneye on there feels like it should be mandatory, though.

Aside from first-party and Rare, I don't remember that many great games from other developers. Star Wars games like Shadows of the Empire and Rogue Squadron, for sure. Turok games were popular I guess but I never got into them. Doom 64 I remember being decent and was way different and unique from the PC games.

Maybe for fun they could include the 64DD games that were released in Japan just so you could try them out.

Well don't expect to pay 60 bucks for this thing as I am pretty sure memory chips alone will cost them 60 bucks for all that storage space for the games.

If they ever release a gamecube disc drive reader, that would be awesome.

Games ranged from 4MB to 64MB. Even if they included 100 games and left space for game saves it would still be no larger than a common 16gb Flash drive. If Nintendo Massed produced the system they could easily get costs down to under $5 for storage itself. The N64 classic could easily be marketed at $59.99 and make Nintendo a HUGE profit. Consider that the DS was essentially just a Nintendo 64 in portable form and was available at the end of it's life for under $100 as well and it seems quite likely that Nintendo would have a license to print money with a N64 mini console.
