Default 2020 - A Blu (and 4K) review - AU / NZ Style

2020 - A Blu (and 4K) review - AU / NZ Style

so.. how Blu was it for you ??

That time of the year to have a bit of a review of 2020 - news, purchases, deals, your favourite items of the year - and a few pics !!

News and stuff.......

- Well of course Covid meant that a lot of us were home for the majority of 2020 - me it was 8 months in my new home - and I got to know the postie with the number of Amazon parcels arriving

- Twilight Time - calls time.. and a few final deals.....

- The UK distributors IMO outshone the US - with Arrow / Eureka / Second Sight and even 101 Films with some great sets. Yes - there is still Criterion - but IMO Severin and VS are just more expensive and harder to get (and far more unknown titles !!) .

- WHERE IS MY PARCEL ?? Postage time took a battering with no planes flying.

- RAREWAVES : great place to get those UK and some Euro titles after Amazon BLOCKED US. (Granted Amazon has given us the UK stuff back but it still took years). Granted at least ZAVVI is still there (although they did stuff a few of us up with their account mergers - but - at least we were able to get DAWN OF THE DEAD via them

- Locally - BD was finally given the shaft from the major B&M stores - JB has cut back the sections - reduced the space an height - and has MIXED them with DVDs !! MAD !!!! and replaced them with jigsaw puzzles.... why ??? Target has removed Blu-rays (4Ks what the hell are they ?) and solely gone DVD. BigW has shrunken BD / 4K sections and have just scraps.

- as for getting 'shafted' - the move towards 4K only discs is grating - as compared to what the US and UK gets.

- and I'm THANKFUL that 3D at least still lives in the UK !!

- I 'found' CEX in 2020 - and a few good bargains for less than $5 there.

Deals ..... where do I start... far too many !! I was able to score GAMERA and ADAMSON

This office space has sadly no shelves yet... the floor is where some of the collection is ... and the bedroom walk in cupboards.......

but here as some of the nice box sets from this year .. mmm Mothra must still be at my other home....

new home - theatre
- after a few bumpy rides... it's slowly got there (yamaha atmos amp - just had a service - Benq 4K projector - needed a service - now working - and the ceiling HDMI cable is stuff - hence the falling to the fall - I need to get into the ceiling and pull it thru) - and STILL waiting on rear speakers from Amazon (ordered in late Oct and still not arrived)
