I'm probably just re-inventing threads that have already been done, but what is your film of the decade for the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's, 2000's and 2010's?
Mine would look something like... 1970's The Exorcist 1973 1980's An Officer And A Gentleman 1982 1990's JFK 1991 2000's Mulholland Dr. 2001 2010's Midnight In Paris 2011 I attempted to list films that were a hybrid of acclaim and personal enjoyment, with a bit of an emphasis on the former. For instance, I watch something like "Jaws" or "Manhattan" more than "The Exorcist", but felt the latter had the best mix of acclaim, notoriety, personal intrigue and impact. One thing I notice about my selection for the last five decades is that the first few years of the decade seem to provide the "film of the decade"! |
