...what do they do for an encore? Surely they have a huge back catalog, but I do wonder now that they've put a ton of discs out over the last few years for their huge franchises...

Well supposedly they actually might have The Abyss and True Lies on the cards. Hopefully The Terminator and Aliens as well, if Cameron ever bothers. The Die Hard sequels would also be welcome. As far as their own back catalog goes, I'd love to see The Rock and Con Air get an upgrade.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Dick Tracy, Honey I Shrunk The Kids. In that order please.
I’d also love it if they brought their Disney Treasures classic shorts collection to Blu-ray at the very least. |

Anything that is 4K on D+ is likely: Hocus Pocus, Pirates franchise, National Treasure, Muppet Christmas Carol, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and even Sword in the Stone or The Black Cauldron. It’s always cheaper for studios to put out content that is already done, so I’d say some of those are at least likely. We also know Mulan is coming. The other 90s and 2000s era Disney features are likely: Tarzan, Bolt, Lilo & Stitch, and so on. Hopefully we’ll get some live action Fox titles that have digital 4K versions, like the Die Hard series. They are also planning a True Lies D+ series, so the original is more likely than in a while.

Remember that there was a time when Disney was known for other films and not Pixar, Marvel or Star Wars?
Anyway, Here's where they could go next: 1. Digital animated films - we already know that Mulan is going to be released, there's no reason to not release all their animated catalog from Pocahontas to Bolt. Even if some of them are flops that no one is interested in like Chicken Little. They are all digital, which means a simple conversion for 4K. I would not be surprised if they released them in batches like they did with Pixar. 2. The Signature Collection (+ Fantasia, Dumbo and Alice in Wonderland) - these are THE DISNEY FILMS, though they need more effort in restoration, and there's no indication that Disney wants to do that. However they still remain a possibility. 3. Important live action films or franchises - most notably Mary Poppins, Who Framed Roger Rabbit (which already has a 4K restoration), Enchanted, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.... Most movies in 4K on Disney+ currently
Nearly all of the movies made digitally by WDAS Lot of the live action movies of the past decade Signature Collection titles With the exception of an odd title here or there like Mary Poppins that's probably about it not counting the Fox stuff. Considering how they went with Blu-ray from 2015 and just released select titles via Disney Movie Club I wouldn't expect a ton. Could easily see them doing a bunch of digital exclusives though. The Winnie the Pooh movies are prime selections imo. |

Who Framed Roger Rabbit and The Nightmare Before Christmas are a must.
Oh, there's always the Muppet movies too. And with Fox having a deal with Shout! again, maybe there should be the idea of making some titles 4K/Blu-ray combos. And I stated this before I believe; when it comes to new (4K) restorations of the Fox films and since Shout! aren't allowed to do them themselves, what Shout! should do is commission Fox/Disney to do new restorations. That way it benefits both the companies and fans and both companies make a lot of money. |
