United Kingdom Oasis - Knebworth 1996 - 19/11/2021

Single Disc Blu-ray including documentary plus Saturday and Sunday night of concert.

Quote:
The DVD and Blu-ray formats feature ‘Oasis Knebworth 1996’ - the eagerly anticipated feature length documentary telling the story of the special relationship between Oasis and their fans that made the largest concert of the ‘90’s possible, directed by Grammy Award-winner Jake Scott. It is told entirely in the moment through the eyes of the fans who were there, built around extensive and never before seen archive concert and backstage footage from the event, with additional interviews with the band and concert organisers. Both formats also include the full concerts from both nights edited by Dick Carruthers with audio mixed by Will Shapland in Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

This is also playing cinemas on 23rd September, but I've never listened to an Oasis album in my life

Also note that Jake Scott is the son of Ridley Scott!

I expected the documentary, I hoped for the concert. We get both

Day one purchase. I still have the extremely large posters for this and Loch Lomond which I need to frame one day

It's a long time since I've even listened to an Oasis album, but I was at one of these concerts (I'd have to dig my ticket out to remember which night) so I think I'll get this.

Will this be available elsewhere, or is it exclusive to the Oasis website? If that's the actual cover, it looks like a bad bootleg.

No idea to be honest.

It’s up for pre-order on Amazon. What a great release!

Pre ordered.

Seen oasis live 3 times
Point depot 97
Croke park 00’
Slane 10’

All 3 gigs were epic.
Early oasis gigs are the stuff of legends

I've added this to the database here.

Just uploaded the cover too, although on the Oasis site it does say 'product may differ to image displayed'.

(FYI - this photo of Liam was used on the original Knebworth poster for the gigs, so doubt it will change too much.)

For some reason most concert covers look like bad bootlegs

It's got both the Saturday and Sunday performances on the Blu-ray and they are playing the same set list. I'm not sure if there are any big differences between the two that I'll watch both together

I wouldn't have minded if one of the Loch Lomond shows was on there, just as that sometimes seems to get forgotten about (I know the focus is on Knebworth but they were only a week apart)

If they could upgrade Live By The Sea, Familiar To Millions or There And Then to Blu-ray, it would be good, but it depends what the source material is like

Finally an official release. Why use a photo from Glastonbury though? I think that picture was used on a Knebworth bootleg.

No matter tho; Can't wait. How about some more please? Loch Lomond maybe?

The photo was used in the promo posters for the gigs back in ‘96

Are both nights plus a feature length documentary okay to go on just one blu ray?

I know you didn't write this, but this last sentence is odd:

On 10th and 11th August 1996, 250,000 young music fans converged on Knebworth Park to see Oasis play two record breaking, era defining shows. The landmark concerts sold out in under a day with over 2% of the UK population attempting to buy tickets. This was a time when the UK was slowly recovering from a decade of recession.

A decade of recession?! There were five quarters in 1980-81 and five quarters in 1990-91. I doubt whether Britain has had ever had a decade of recession.

I am looking forward to the Blu-ray.

YouTube trailer below:

Trailer looks good! It is amazing to see so many people actually enjoying a gig as opposed to simply filming a gig on their crappy camera phones!!

Plus you also in those days didn’t have loads of the crowd waving massive flags around. This is now out of control at Glastonbury, makes the viewing experience very poor not just for TV but I’m sure those actually there as well. Seems to have spread to many other festivals as well. I guess it’s a problem at festivals as at one off concerts you don’t tend to see this even at outdoor ones. I guess the bands concerned have better security to confiscate them.

Haha indeed! I hadn't picked up on that... just copied the blurb from the listing on the Oasis site.

Would be call 2008-18 a decade of recession?

1929-39 a decade of recession?

Wouldn't this be something like the documentary in HD, and both concerts in SD? I've just watched the trailer and honestly, all the concert footage does not look HD. Very suspicious that the announcement fails to offer such important details.
