Lots of great titles from a great year thus far, and I'll gladly add MEPHISTO, PENNIES FROM HEAVEN and GALLIPOLI.
So many great genre choices and can't believe Cronenberg's SCANNERS and Dante's THE HOWLING haven't made any of these lists so far...with honorable mentions to WOLFEN and DEADLY BLESSING. ![]() |

The Road Warrior: Mad Max 2
I have a very fond memory of this film. Took a client to see it. He really enjoyed it as did I. Then we went to dinner to hash out the final details on a deal we were doing which was very profitable for both me and my company. "See you at 9AM tomorrow Lee. Bring the contracts with you" were his final words of the evening. |

Loved "Raiders of the Lost Ark" when it was new. When I rewatched the picture a couple of years ago, I found a lot of the magic had faded. Will probably give it another try though.
Undisputed favorite from '81: Pennies from Heaven I like "Blow Out" a lot too. I think it and 1976's "Obsession" are De Palma's very best. Faye Dunaway's performance still makes "Mommie Dearest" work for me. And I remain eternally fond of "Tarzan the Ape Man" with Bo Derek. I suppose I may be its only champion. |
