Figured I would share my brief thoughts on this new thread too...

Just saw the first showing of Thoroughbreds. Was looking forward to it for a while and it delivered. PITCH BLACK tone from start to finish. I especially appreciated that it
[Show spoiler]didn't have some kind of compromised happy ending
.

The pacing of the film and the interaction between the two leads were strong points. The directing was solid. Mainstream audiences will NOT like this one for a variety of reasons, but it was just my flavor.

Looking forward to a Blu-ray release to hopefully hear more about the writer / director's approach to the material.

Haven't seen this yet, but it definitely looks like something I would appreciate a lot.

That said, I hope they change the cover art for the Blu-ray. That image is fine for a teaser poster, but it tells you little about the movie itself.

I need to see it again. Caught it at AFI Fest back in November and really appreciated it, but ended up zoning out once or twice in the third act from exhaustion. But from what I remember, it's an astounding debut feature, a great showcase for Olivia Cooke and Anya Taylor-Joy and a touching and bittersweet farewell to Anton Yelchin.

Knowing as little about a movie is sometimes a good thing.

Is this a horror movie? Wondering because it stars two scream queens.

Since I missed this at the theater -- really unfortunately -- I'll be picking this up on Day One without question. If anything looks like it's right in my wheelhouse, this is it!

^ Much better!

I REALLY wanted to see this in theaters, but the cinema I work at didn't get it, even though we had the poster in the lobby. Only one (art house) theater in town showed this film, and it was quite a distance from me. Looks like it never expanded from limited. Hope it finds a cult following on video, streaming, etc.

[QUOTE=GeoffOliver;14916770]^ Much better!

not trying to start a fight.but i don't think this is much better or better at all. (i preferred the movie poster art) and someone could argue neither image is good.

you mentioned not liking the previous image because it tells you nothing about the film.and this one *also* tells you nothing or even less...

really the new image seems so generic to me. just another bland cover, guess those help sells...

anyway, i think this was $19.96 recently and now it back to $34. i'm sure it will drop again.man, they really want to force you to do that pre order thing.

Honestly, I just think it fits my personal tastes more. To me, it looks more colorful and striking. My main issue (and it wasn’t a big deal) with the other image was that it was just bland, probably because of the whites and greys. But yeah, neither tells us much about the film, for better or worse.

Oh yes! I'm hoping to blind buy import this from the US - obviously not getting a theatrical release here in Australia no surprise.

Universal don't seem to region lock their releases so my fingers are crossed I can get this one!

Chances of this being region free? as they`ve pulled the blu-ray release here in the UK. I Did recently import PP3 from the states which is also Universal, and that was region free so I`m presuming this will be. Hopefully.

Had an email from HMV who I had it ordered with and they said that Universal had cancelled it, therefore were cancelling the order.
