I'm already satisfied with my UK Shakespeare in Love with 1080p but wouldn't mind replacing my Canadian English Patient which is only 1080i.

Yeah, I have the UK Shakespeare in Love as well, good disc. The English Patient and Cold Mountain are available in the UK too, but I don't know if they are region-free or not.

I've got the Canadian Shakesphere in Love 1080i so I will be upgrading that one. English Patient is a no brainer as well. I'll pick Cold Mountain as well, but may have to wait a few weeks down the line.

Cold Mountain, Shakespeare in Love and The English Patient for me. I figured these wouldn't be far off, considering how Lionsgate has been releasing the Miramax catalog.

Good news. The DVD of Cold Mountain is terrible even for DVD standards, just like Gangs of NY was... gotta love Miramax.

Yeah, the UK Shakespeare In Love is a really good disc. All the extras from the Special Edition DVD were ported over and it has lossless audio. Plus it's region free.

I was gonna import The English Patient from the UK, but I'll wait for the Lionsgate release which will probably be identical and much cheaper.

A couple of questions: The UK version of Shakespeare in Love is well reviewed, seems to have a wonderful transfer, and has the special features. What are the odds Lionsgate will improve on this? Mine is still sealed, so I could probably get rid of it pretty easy if you all think it's going to be surpassed. If not, there's no reason for me to double dip.

Second, do you guys think Lionsgate will add back in the special features from the Cold Mountain CE DVD or we'll end up with nada like the Alliance copy?

Most Lionsgate Blus of old Miramax films have included everything off the DVDs except the trailers. For example AMELIE had all the numerous special features, expect for the trailers and the second director's commentary in French.

I'd expect them to port over everything from the COLD MOUNTAIN Blu, I wouldn't use the Alliance disasters as any sort of guide.

As for SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, I'm again expecting it to have all the features of the DVD, just like the UK Universal Blu.

I'm also hoping they bring over all the DVD features on THE ENGLISH PATIENT.
