Sudden Fear is a beautiful and awesome film noir. I cannot retire my Kino DVD, because it's part of a five-movie box set, along with Hangmen Also Die, which has also been brilliantly released on Blu-ray, but I'm really looking forward to the upgrade to Blu-ray.

An image of Joan Crawford from this film can be seen on the cover sleeve of The Rolling Stones album, Exile on Main Street.

Remembering the Maurice Pialat releases and a couple other foreign titles makes me really hope Cohen authors this disc with lossless sound.

You're right, the trailer is incredibly tense and well put together, and really highlights the dramatic intensity of the movie.

Top shelf film noir. Crawford and Palance are excellent. Add in Gloria Grahame and it goes without saying this is an essential.

I don't think we have that info yet. Dual Mono could be lossless or lossy. It will just depend on the audio codec being used.

Just teasing, but yes - if you are interested in the genre, this is a hell of a blind buy. It's a fine film for many reasons and audiences. As a Crawford mega-fan, of course, I may appear biased, but it really goes beyond that. It's sort of the great-grandmother to films like Fatal Attraction. It's gorgeously shot, which is why I can't wait to see it on Blu.

While there is a lot of complex shiz going on, it also remains rather accessible, IMO - while it doesn't have the slight gore/jump scares of Psycho, it's one of those films that I can recommend to just about anyone because like that film, the suspense works just as well today as it did when it came out.
