Default Landman (Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, Demi Moore, from Taylor Sheridan) | Paramount+

Premieres Nov. 17.

Quote:
Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, LANDMAN is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. Based on the notable 11-part podcast “Boomtown” from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.

In addition to Thornton, the series stars Ali Larter (The Last Victim), Michelle Randolph (1923), Jacob Lofland (Joker 2), Kayla Wallace (When Calls the Heart), James Jordan (Yellowstone), Mark Collie (Nashville), Paulina Chávez (The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia), and Demi Moore (Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans). Jon Hamm (Mad Men) will star in a recurring guest role with Andy Garcia (Expendables franchise) and Michael Peña (End of Watch) also serving as guest stars.

I finally got around to watching the first episode, and liked it a lot. Quite a shocking ending as well. Taylor Sheridan continues to deliver on the writing front. He really knows how to assemble a cast as well. Billy Bob Thornton is perfect as the lead. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season. Hopefully, the quality doesn’t drop.

Just finished the first 3 episodes it’s a really great show. I’m already hoping for a Blu-ray or 4k release. Hope this does well enough to get more seasons.

I found the first episode a bit iffy. Some of the dialogue was a bit cheesy. I like Billy Bob as an actor, but some of those lines he had to choke out seemed awkward. I kept with it and I think it found it's groove with ep. 3. Interesting world and I think the arc of his son alone will prove it worth watching. And I'm about halfway through season 2 of Mayor of Kingstown and am getting a bit bored. Seems like the same situation happens again and again.

This is such a great show. Every episode has been very good so far. I can’t believe we’re halfway through the season already. The balance between the comedic moments and intense drama is seamless. The entire cast is just fantastic. My only gripe so far is that Jon Hamm and Demi Moore don't have much to do. They are barely in the show. Looking forward to the next episode, especially after that shocking ending to episode five.

At this point I’m thinking Boss’s crew (but not him) has to be involved with the cartel in some way.

I don’t think the crew is involved with the cartel just that they are gangbangers. If they was cartel they wouldn’t be working in the patch.

Easy way for them to make "accidents" look legitimate though.

First impressions are good, I admit, although the scenes with the ex-wife and the daughter feel pretty pointless and offers nothing of value (unless you're into soft-core stuff).

I'll remain watching it simply due to Billy Bob Thornton. Love his acting.

Yeah but the cartel isn’t interested in making things look like an accident they’ve already threaten to blow some pump sites up.

Yeah I feel the same about the ex-wife and daughter. Billy Bob is a great actor I got my mom and brother into the show they love it.

Episode 5 was pretty decent, but same issue as before: Ali Larter. Her character just acts so inappropriate and indecently it doesn't make any sense why she's even in the show.

The last show I remember where she actually did a good job was in Heroes and that was years ago.

Anyway, that poor guy... Looks safe, doesn't mean it is.

They should have waited to get her and Tommy back together to soon. That’s something that could have waited for the later seasons. But I’m sure she will have a reason for being around later in the season. Demi Moore is useless right now but they make it a point to have her around.

another product of Taylor Sheridan's assembly line. If you like his previous projects, you'll like this one. I find them formulaic.

I caught the clip of the cartel meeting with Bill Bob's character on youtube and the clip was pretty good. Too bad i will probably never get to watch this series as i dont have any plans on getting Paramount+.
