Default Movies You Wanted to See that Never Happened

Here you can list movies that have been stalled, delayed or scrapped for various reasons that you wish had happened.

Here are some of mine:

Guillermo del Toro's "The Haunted Mansion"

Guillermo del Toro was going to do a "darker" version of Disney's The Haunted Mansion since the 2003 Eddie Murphy film wasn't well received.

First announced in 2011, del Toro said he was working closely with Disney Imagineers, had access to the Disney Archives, and got to explore the attraction behind-the-scenes to be as loyal to the story as he could.

In 2014, del Toro said he showed Disney a rough draft of the script but he didn't get the screenplay down pat yet. He said he would love to direct it, but the ball was in Disney's court.

There have been no further updates.

Guillermo del Toro's "Hellboy 3"

There were talks of a 3rd Hellboy film after The Golden Army came out in 2008. Del Toro has said that he wanted to do it, but could not get the budget together as no major studio wanted to pick it up.

Ron Perlman has also said that he wanted to do it, but said that it "probably won't happen." They then got involved with other projects like The Strain and Sons of Anarchy and "Hellboy 3" was scrapped.

Now Hellboy is being rebooted with David Harbour.

WWE's Undertaker Origins Film

WWE Films announced in late 2009 that they were going to do an origin movie on The Undertaker. They didn't reveal much info. other than it was going to be a western set in the 1880s.

It was apparently scrapped.

James Wan and Paul W.S. Anderson's "Castlevania"

SAW director James Wan and Resident Evil's Paul W.S. Anderson were going to do a Castlevania film back in 2009, but financial problems stalled the production.

Dog Soldiers Sequel:

A sequel to Dog Soldiers was first announced in 2004, but has never happened.

Dog Soldiers producer David E. Allen said that "Dog Soldiers: Fresh Meat" would begin filming shortly and said of the plot, "Cooper (Kevin McKidd) is picked up by an American team who, we find out, were the real opponents for the war games for Sgt. Wells' squad.

In the first film, it was a family who were the werewolves. In this one, it's an actual team of werewolves who are true military men. So even though they are now werewolves, they act like a trained military unit.
"

Teaser posters were released in 2005 and 2014, but the dates passed with no explanation for the delay.

Strangeland Sequel:

A sequel to Dee Snider's cult horror film was talked about for years. In January 2009 he announced on his official website that production on Strangeland: Disciple was going into production later in the year.

Between 2009-10 Snider was talking very enthusiastically about the sequel in various interviews and on his radio show. He even said that Robert Englund had agreed to come back.

Then the talks of the sequel came to a stop.

I met Dee Snider at NJ's Chiller convention in April 2018 and asked him about it. He told me that he can't say "yes or no" right now if it will ever happen, but it doesn't look like that it will.

He said that things were "looking good" some time ago but the company producing it went bankrupt and he couldn't get the budget together. I mentioned to him that I saw that the sequel plans were greenlit back in 2009 and he laughed and said that the sequel was greenlit back in 1998 when Strangeland came out.

He finished with saying that he's not actively working on it.

"The Lost Girls"

The Lost Boys was made with the intent of having a direct sequel. The vampire David (Kiefer Sutherland) did not explode like the other vampires and he was intended to not be dead.

Joel Schumacher had written a script for "The Lost Girls" and tried to do it throughout the '90s, but it never happened.

In 2008, there was a limited comic book series The Lost Boys: Reign of Frogs that explained that the antlers missed David's heart which did not kill him.

Then two direct-to-video sequels came out: The Tribe and The Thirst.

Eli Roth's "Thanksgiving"

A full-length feature of mock-trailer Thanksgiving, made for Grindhouse as a throwback to '80s slasher films, never happened.

Roth mentioned that he was working on the script in 2010 while out promoting The Last Exorcism.

In 2012 Roth said, "We finally cracked the story and figured out how to make it really, really scary, and a reason to do it. Before John Watts starts shooting 'Clown' he's got a window. We'll have a draft soon."

Thanksgiving never came about.
