Hi,
We currently have a Panasonic UB700. Overall it's a very decent player. Great picture, it does upscaling (normal dvd's/blu-ray's are upscaled to 4k) which we love. The thing is...we've been having some issues with the player. When we insert certain movies the movie is often unplayable. We get effects like this: https://i.imgur.com/tm68J3O.jpg It happens mostly with some Disney movies, but we're also unable to play the last Hunger Game movie. The discs that give issues on the Panasonic work correctly on our Xbox One X (so it's not the discs). For now we're watching those movies on the Xbox, but it's annoying because we don't know which movie will give us nasty effects like that beforehand. So whenever a movie becomes unplayable somewhere in the middle of a movie we have to stand up to insert the disc in the Xbox. The Xbox doesn't have upscaling either, and we don't like to control the Xbox with the controller (for movies, we like the controller for games of course ![]() We watch A LOT of discs, so we want to have a proper UHD player. The Panasonic also doesn't have Dolby Vision. The Xbox doesn't have Dolby Vision aswell. We pre-ordered the new Xbox (series X), which will have a UHD player, but it's doubtful it'll have upscaling and Dolby Vision. So....the question is....what's the best player atm? Our budget? Anything below 1000 EUR, as long as it works properly. We'd like it to have upscaling, and HDR/Dolby Vision support. I've browsed around the last few months, but it seems like every UHD player gives some some of issue, so it's hard to pick a proper one. I hope this is the right place to ask this question ![]() In case it's relevant: our TV is the LG C9 55'. |
