Do the Harmony remote controls work on the PS3?

I don't believe so. PS3 uses BlueTooth for remote control. Harmony remotes use InfaRed.

Are you currently using one that you can recommend?

Original Answer - As stated before, PS3 is Bluetooth so NO IR/RF universal remote will work.

One of the very few aspects of the PS3 that seriously tick me off.

PlayStation 3 does not have IR or RF, just Bluetooth. What you could do is buy a PlayStation IR/RF remote controller that has an adapter and then teach the Harmony remote control the signals from the IR/RF remote control and keep the adapter connected.

I have the Harmony 880 remote, and it works incredibly well. Also, with a workaround it is compatible with the PS3.

Nyko makes the Blu Wave remote, which is a cheap IR remote for the PS3. Since it is infa-red, and the PS3 doesn't have an IR port, the Nyko remote comes with an IR dongle that plugs into one of the PS3's USB ports. The Harmony remotes can easily learn the commands from the Nyko remote, it only took me 5 minutes to program. Now, the Harmony remote controls all of my PS3 functions except for the PS3 button, which isn't necessary.

The Nyko remote is on sale for only $14 at Amazon.com, and it's well worth it to gain an IR port for the PS3. Now, I can control my entire system again with just one remote control.

Don't these Nyko remotes lack some of the blu ray funtionality buttons that the blu tooth remote has?

I'm talking the 4 colored buttons like the one that activates the pop up menu.

I think the only functionality it lacks is direct access to Angle, Audio, PS button and subtitles. It does handle pop-up menus (select button). If anyone would like, you can play with the software on logitechs website. Once in, there are pull-down menus with all of the available options. You may need to have your secret decoder ring handy for playstation controls.

Logitech has a database with all the commands from the Nyko BluWave remote. It has all the features of the bluetooth remote except for the power on-off (which imo you don't need because you have to be up to put the BD/Game into the player anyway.

Can't tell you how many times I've said the above myself. Here's a list of the Nyko commands:
