Video125 are a label based in Sunninghill in the UK. They sell DVD's & Blu-rays on public transport films like Buses & Railways to transport enthusiasts.
https://www.video125.com/ I got this notice in an email while they were promoting their new release of King's Cross to King's Lynn this evening. It reads: Quote:
I do own about 2 Blu-rays & a large number of DVDs from them in my collection. They consist of Driver's Eye views of various railway routes in Ireland, the UK & France. I recently watched the Drivers Eye View of The Western Corridor in Ireland railway network on Blu-ray a few months ago. The railway line covered in the title starts at Waterford onto Limerick & then from Limerick to Galway. It's narrated by the late broadcaster Henry Kelly. The picture quality & his commentary on it was excellent. What is the current situation with Video 125 at the moment. Are they able to continue an online presence for the remainder of the year going into next year? Will they continue to produce Blu-rays for their older titles in their catalogue? I'm not sure how badly hit their finances are doing now when they made the decision to stop producing new titles on Blu-ray from now on & in the near future. I hope it won't hit their older titles as well. Last edited by dublinbluray108; 08-09-2025 at 09:21 PM. |

There's plenty of these Driver's Eye View type of things all over YouTube.
Theres an 8 hour long one of a shot through a window from a train going through the Alps for example. I'm amazed there's a physical media market for these types of things considering how abundant they are online. |

I will add the to the British Retailers, Importers, Producers and Distributors You've Maybe Never Heard of thread.
I'd rather a pressed DVD than a BD-R any day so not entirely bad news. Some companies have moved to burned discs (BD-R) that's not something I can support easily. |

My father in law loved their titles as a massive transport fan. Into both trains and buses.
He though never moved on from DVD and I’m sure that’s the same for most of their customers. I know it’s not a popular story here but that older demographic are still very much only DVD buyers and have never moved on to BD let alone UHD. The cost point is also very true for labels like this who sell very small volumes even smaller than the independent labels usually featured here. If you are only selling a few hundred copies of each title it’s not cost effective to produce both a DVD and a higher cost BD especially when most of their customers only want DVD. |

In late 2009 Nine Inch Nails fans released https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anothe...n_of_the_Truth and I recall that in the run-up to the release they explained how producing the Blu-ray had been an absolute headache. Of course that's 15 years ago and I suppose the tooling for producing a Blu-ray has been much improved, but I suspect it still is massively more complicated than producing a DVD.
If that doesn't result in significant sales, I can imagine a company deciding to abandon the format. |

Renown are very anti Blu-ray too, and Simply only ever did one, after being cajoled into it at length. Revelation did about 10. The BBC stopped them entirely at one point outside of Doctor Who.
It is by all accounts a massive faff and expense, and the format licencing cost is still an obstacle. Manufacturing costs are skyrocketing, plastic cases are expensive, paper and printing costs have basically doubled in 3½ years. I wouldn't blame anybody doing a DVD only run to save themselves the grief. A release is a release is a release. |
