Default Blu-ray only in this week's ( January 25th) Future Shop/Best Buy flyer

I was looking through this weeks Future Shop/Best Buy flyer and I noticed that they only had standalone Blu ray players advertised. They had a Blu Ray/ HD DVD combo from Samsung but that was it for HD DVD. They didn't even have the HD DVD add on for the X Box 360. Blu Ray's were the only movies they had advertised in the whole flyer. Do electronic stores want on format I think so.

They want to make money like everyone else and they know HD-DVD is going to cost them money if they don't get out.

Exactly. It must be a huge relief to finally start selling customers on HiDef on disc without wasting time explaining different formats and what each one can do, studio support etc. It must have cost retailers an absolute fortune in wasted staff time and lost sales because of customer confusion.

I am amazed the retailers didn't act sooner, but maybe they didn't want to upset Microshiba while their HDM market share was over 30%. Now it's below 20% and nobody would expect a major retailer to continue to support a format that is effectively dead.
