Do we have any idea why Amazon-USA have this jevenile practice of refuseing to export 'some' titles that are not even new release or likely to be high demand, and how we 'guess' which ones? For Example The Hitman's bodyguard 4K with the red cover, a Lionsgate that is 4 years old as it happens. All that happens is that being Europe based, I then order that and several other titles from elsewere. The Hitman's Bodyguard is even on 50% off promo which angers me even more.
Can we imagine a corner shop having a promo on milk, but when you get to the till you are told sorry but because of you belonging to a minority demographic group you are excluded from the promo. |

This has been going on for at least a year.
One pattern I have discovered: If I don't order any new Warner Archive release in time, it switches to US-exclusivity a couple of weeks after its release date and never returns. Also, some bigger Criterion box sets (but not all) followed the same pattern; Agnès Varda, Fellini, Wong Kar-Wai. So far, I've not been able to find out why. Chats with Amazon customer service reps have been nothing but vague and obtuse. |

ArtVandelay ref Warner Archive, means it is clearly not the Studio/ distributor holding a weopan to Amazon. A great pity that Amazon can't be more open and honest, or heaven forbid mark the items that they choose not to export rather that only tell people at check out

Seems to be an issue with various Amazons. co.uk & .de not shipping pre-orders outside their respective territories, sometimes .de gets fussy and doesn't ship half their BDs to the UK. .com was blocking me from various titles last year, but is ok now.

Amazon-uk are notorious for this kind of thing. Amazon-De, I can't think of any occasion when I missed out on any thing from there. Any time Amazon-usa decide to be difficult, I just keep trying for a while till it becomes 5 titles then last chance and then all 5 are ordered from a complete rival that might not be as cheap then what is to be expected. With lots of people being the victim it must add up over time to a useful sum that is lost

As others have said, this is an issue with Amazon UK as well. I’m in the US and not only has it been hard for the last year to get preorders and new releases from them, the shipping went up nearly 500%, so now I mostly buy from US retailers that import the titles themselves.

veritas If I have it right, you where trying to buy a number of titles at once to reduce the shipping per title, but this didn't happen. Some one should have been investigated for abusing their dominant market position or proffiteering

Shipping from uk's rarewaves.com is inexpensive and they even have some pre-order titles.

Yes I've heard of rarewaves but never used them. They look to have some bargains and some jaw dropping prices. I believe but could be wrong, but if they have a usa location in knowing how fast they got usa orders to uk

I am not sure what you mean but the site for me always ship from the UK and its usually non-tracking regular Royal Mail so it takes a while to arrive but so far I have always got what I ordered from the site.

Deadend45 not a problem, I've heard of rarewaves, but without checking thought that they had a location in the USA that I'd like to know a real customer's experience of. I prefer tracked orders because I tend to order 4 titles at a time to better share the shipping, 4 titles share $us 17 and take about a week in travelling time to get to uk

I've just had a quick look, it would appear that as on Amazon-usa Rarewaves are 100% uk. So they most likely are useful to Americans that want uk titles that Amazon-uk won't export. I'll certainly be better informed or rarewaves in a posative way now. Many thanks

Great for macro ordering. A few months ago they had a decent Region B Arrow sale that was better then Canada's 'shocktober'. |
