Default Does Amazon Prime Paramount Plus add-on give access to all of Paramount Plus?

I wanted to watch Nacho Libre with the family tonight, and according to JustWatch.com it is available on Paramount Plus:

https://www.justwatch.com/us/movie/nacho-libre

Since I already have Prime Video, and have enjoyed the convenience of add-on channels in the past, including CBS All Access, I went ahead and added Paramount Plus to my Amazon. However, it was still only offering options to rent and buy.

To try to double-check, I went directly to the Paramount Plus website and found Nacho Libre on there:

https://www.paramountplus.com/movies...7uZt_hpiyazpb/

It seems to be available, but since I don't have a direct subscription to Paramount Plus, I cannot login and verify that the movie is currently streaming there.

I chatted with Amazon support a few minutes ago, and he said that the movie had been disabled from Paramount's end.

So two questions:

1. Is all of the Paramount Plus content available through the Amazon add-on?

and

2. Can somebody with a Paramount Plus subscription please check to see if Nacho Libre actually is included with the service?

Thanks!

You can actually use your Prime credentials to validate a Paramount+ account which would allow you to use the P+ app directly.

Thanks for the help guys! The link for making an account on Paramount+ was particularly helpful.

And yes, I can confirm that at this time "Nacho Libre" is available to watch on Paramount+ directly, but not on Amazon with the Paramount+ add-on.

So now I wonder how common this situation is. Is it a fluke for this particular title, or is there a lot of content that is not available on Amazon with the add-on? If so, then that does not seem right, since it is the same price through Amazon.

Probably a fluke. The movie is available via the Apple TV Paramount+ channel, so it's not like Paramount is withholding it from P+ channels on other platforms.

Three weeks after submitting a case with Paramount+ I finally got an answer today about Nacho Libre not showing up on the Amazon P+ add-on:

Dear xxxx,

Thank you for contacting Paramount+ customer service. To view Nacho Libre, please use the the Paramount+ app or paramoumtplus.com website. Depending on licensing restrictions, some content may not be available through amazon prime video app.

Regards,
Paramount+ Customer Service
So it appears to be official...due to licensing restrictions there are certain titles not available through the Amazon add-on.

Hm, very strange. Why would this affect Amazon but not Apple?

Are you talking about streaming the PP+ channel on an Apple TV device, or is Paramount+ actually available as an add-on to the AppleTV+ streaming service? The Apple TV / Apple TV+ naming scheme makes it confusing.

You can subscribe to a Paramount+ channel in the Apple TV app. It's the same concept as the Amazon Video add-on channels.

Indeed. "Apple TV" can refer to the device or the app (which is available on the Apple TV device and a number of devices by other manufacturers). "Apple TV+" is Apple's own movie/TV show subscription service (and is itself a channel in the TV app, just like Paramount+, Showtime etc.). You can subscribe to e.g. Paramount+ without subscribing to Apple TV+.

I don't think it's the same concept, since the Apple TV app (if I understand it) is just a front-end for various streaming sources. The situation with the Amazon PP+ add-on is unique, since it is a subscription-based streaming service hosted within another subscription-based streaming service. The equivalent situation is if subscribers to Apple TV+ could pay an extra monthly fee to Apple to have all of the PP+ content seamlessly show up alongside the Apple TV+ content.

I have a Roku and I can access the PP+ channel directly through that, so I guess that would be equivalent to accessing it through an Apple TV device. It's only when I use PP+ through Amazon Prime (all through my Roku) that there is this apparent licensing restriction.

It's not just a frontend. You can also access your iTunes library. The concept is the same in the sense that you access P+ on a 3rd party platform (as opposed to using the P+ app). You stream the channel in the Apple TV app (no need to install the P+ app or create a P+ account) and get your subscription through Apple, just like an Amazon Video channel. The only difference is that you don't need to also subscribe to Apple TV+ first to be able to get P+, while on Amazon only Prime subscribers have access to channels in the Amazon Video app.
