Love the New Jersey tag line. This should be a fun release.

This movie is just fantastic. I can't wait to own it and put it on my shelf just to blow the minds of those who ask about it

I wonder if the cover art for the bluray will have "features the FULL head crushing scene!" like the DVD did! Either way I am in for this great slice of Troma pie!

I'd have to guess it would... Netflix has the head crushing scene... I'm not fully decided on it, as I just watched it recently.. maybe at a decent price I'll go for it.. I paid $9 for my Nuke Em High and thats about what I'm looking for this...

My high school friends and I used to rent The Toxic Avenger all of the time back in the VHS days of the late 1980s. I have not seen it since, but the entire flick is pretty much etched in my memory.

This is one of those movies that is so utterly wrong that it almost comes around full circle to being right again. When I die one day and have to face my judgment at the gates, I'll probably get docked several points for laughing at the scene where the guy shoots the dog while robbing a restaurant and at the scene where the blind girl is looking at a "braille mirror."

I hope we see some interesting new extras - like maybe a song or two from the musical stage version.

Duh. Troma. Why would they let anyone else touch their baby?

Can't wait! I hope it's an open matte offering, or at least have the option.

Then they can skip the second and third and go right to Citizen Toxie being on Blu-ray next.

I liked the second one - albeit in it's original unrated version - the R-rated version just outright sucks.

along the same lines - I hope the bluray of the first Toxie will include both the unrated cut and the extended 98 minute Japanese cut of the film?

I'm sure it will be announced then canceled then announced again then canceled. We'll probably see it on Blu-Ray 5 years from now. Troma sucks with their release dates.

I'm not so sure.

The Toxic Avenger is probably the film most closely identified with Troma, but Troma is definitely not averse to licensing their films to other distributors
[Show spoiler][Mother's Day to Anchor Bay; Graduation Day, Sugar Cookies, Lust for Freedom, Deadly Daphne's Revenge, Beyond Evil and possibly others to Vinegar Syndrome; Class of Nuke 'Em High to Arrow (UK); Bloodsucking Freaks and The Last Horror Show to 88 Films (UK)]
. They also haven't been all that willing to take any risks with the format on their own, having released only two films, Father's Day and The Taint, to Blu-Ray in the past 3.5 years.

Lest we forget, Troma licensed the shit out of The Toxic Avenger in the early 90's with a cartoon series, comics, toys, and video games. Apparently they even licensed a movie option of the cartoon series to New Line Cinema at one point. I wouldn't be all that surprised to see another Mother's Day scenario, where the distributor handling the remake also picks up a license to the home video rights for the original.
