Wink Best Studio Ghibli film?

I'm surprised this one hadn't been made yet. It would be nice if people could leave a comment saying why they picked a movie over another. In my case, I picked Porco Rosso because it is really funny, I like the setting, and while it features planes heavily it is not as stereotypical as other Miyazaki movies.

I believe Princess Mononoke is the greatest animated feature ever made (obviously haven't seen them all!). It's epic, beautiful, atmospheric, powerful, and just well-crafted from top to bottom.

At this point, I think this is not only my favorite Ghibli film, but my favorite anime film in general. I've always found it moving and inspiring.

Spirited Away is a close runner-up.

Funny you said that... it's actually one of my least favorites.

It's definitely in the bottom tier of Ghibli for me, and the manga is infinitely better!

Also, I believe Nausicaa isn't even made by Ghibli. It was created before Ghibli was founded.

True, but it is officially part of the Ghibli library so I don't see why it shouldn't count on this list.

Spirited Away by a land slide. Funny since I consider Princess Mononoke my second favorite film of all time. That's how much I love Spirited Away though. That no other film comes close to taking the top spot.

Too hard to choose one!

The best spot goes to:
Kiki, Mononoke, Kaguya, Conan

Followed very close with:
Spirited, Naussica, Pom Poko, Ponyo, Totoro

I do have the Nausicaa manga, just haven't read it yet. Sounds like once I read it, my opinion of the movie might change...

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, by far, is is my most favorite Ghibli, always was, and always will be. I also own the Nausicaa Graphic Novel, but haven't had the chance read it yet - gotta get to it soon, for sure, looking forward to it...

Princess Mononoke is my #2 favorite, and When Marnie was There is now actually my #3 - I've watched that one at least 8 times since I got the JP Silhouette Series Blu-ray. And sorry, but Spirited Away is about #16 for me and Totoro about #18...

Whisper of the Heart for me.
Almost close tie with Only Yesterday.

I'm one (of few I guess) that finds Princess Mononoke a bit tiring.

Princess M, I haven't seen every film he has done but M was one of my most cherished theatrical experiences when I saw the film print at the Gene Siskel theatre.
