This movie had absolutely no advertising in my area. I didn't even know it existed until I saw a trailer while getting ready for bed a week or two ago. With the film getting pummeled by Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero this weekend, it will be interesting to see if it actually makes it to 4K UHD or if Universal cancels it. On the other hand, maybe it's already set in stone, since announcing / releasing this, but not The Black Phone, doesn't make a ton of sense.

Deadline says that "at this opening level, Beast is headed to PVOD in 17 days", for anyone stupid enough to pay a premium to watch it at home.

This is actually playing in Dolby Cinema locations near me right now. I might go catch it this week. It wouldn't surprise me if people initially thought this would be a film about the X-Men character, then decided not to go see it when they discovered it clearly wasn't.

Saw this today and it was better than I was expecting. The film is short which works in it's favor and much of the CGI was done well. I wish there had a been a little less family angst thrown in and the ending was telegraphed about 15 minutes in. Still, overall it was entertaining and I enjoy Idris Elba and Sharlto Copley.

What are you basing that on? Do you have any actual information of a 4K release happening?

German release date is set for TBA November, 2022. However seeing no futher US pre-orders plus poor box office, this one could be killed.

Maybe don't make a US thread until you have actual info about a US release? You seem to make placeholder threads all the time with zero info of a US release, and either linking to a foreign release, or not pointing to anything at all. This forum is already crowded enough without all that clutter from threads with zero confirmation of US release, and/or threads that clearly belong in the international section.

Thought this movie was decent. Lots of scenes that take place at night. The credits listed both DTS:X and Atmos so I wonder which Universal will go with if this release ends up happening.

Just got home from this. Not great, but a good matinee thriller. I think the nighttime scenes would've played better in a Dolby Cinema with Dolby Vision presentation as they were very dark in a standard 2K projection cinema. Regardless, the cinematography was really well handled with tons of long take steadicam shots from Philippe Rousselot, an Academy Award winning cinematographer. Elba & Copley were excellent.

Just saw this and I agree it was a good thriller but not a great one. Idris is great as usual but his daughters were annoying.

It’s short too, about 90min.

I enjoyed my hot dog and drink reward while I watched the movie.

4K? Yeah maybe for $10 on BF.

The thumbnail also reveals the original plans for a 4K Blu-ray.

What i find strange is that the standard blu-ray in the US mentions only DTS-HD MA 7.1 while in Germany they just announced it with Dolby Atmos in both English and German ?!
It's Atmos on iTunes and on the Kaleidescape store so why not the American blu-ray....
