A bit of background: If Sony ever delivers on their promise of bringing a VRR update to their bravia line, I am considering upgrading my current LG C9 (55") to Sony A80 (65"). Overall I am very happy with the picture quality of the C9, but for one minor issue: I can't stand oled motion without some form of added motion processing. On my C9 I'm using "OLED motion: clear" setting, which for the vast majority of time looks fantastic. However, in some rare scenes, often when there is some natural flickering light source such as a torch or a candle in the picture, C9 produces motion artifacts. Unfortunately this is the best balance I have managed with getting rid of oled judder and not creating a soap opera effect.
Now, Sony TVs have a reputation of having the best motion processing available (most recent professional reviews support this view). My question is directed to people who either own or have owned a Sony OLED within past few years, and who actively apply some form of added motion processing to their 24p content: Do you get motion artifacts and if so, how often? I would especially appreciate input from people who have experimented with motion processing AND have experience with both LG and Sony OLEDs, but I'm aware that this is a very narrow userbase ![]() |
