As I said in another thread that was discussing there being a reboot of Battlestar Galactica, I just hope it is better than their current NBC app. Because that is one of the buggiest apps I’ve used since HULU way back when. They have a ton of shows spanning their multiple channels and Universal properties on that app right now, but I can’t even watch a half hour show without buffering issues

![]() ![]() NBC Universal Peacock Service Eyeing $4.99/$10 Price Options NBC Universal’s high-profile branded subscription streaming service Peacock reportedly will be priced at $4.99 monthly with commercials and $10 without. Citing sources, The Information disclosed the price points, which launches in April 2020. NBC Universal has not disclosed pricing for the SVOD service. The pricing rivals Apple TV+, while undercutting CBS All Access ($5.99), Disney+ ($6.99), Amazon Prime Video ($8.99), Netflix ($8.99), Showtime ($10.99) and HBO Max ($14.99), among others. https://www.mediaplaynews.com/nbc-un...price-options/ |

Well, I'm now hearing that when the service launches in April 2020, that the service will be free to all xfinity Broadband subscribers. I'm already a subscriber for their cable TV service as well as xfinity broadband, already subscribed to Prime video and being able to add Peacock will add more content for me to watch. Pretty nice, at any rate.

Bit of a stretch to say it undercuts Amazon, Netflix & Disney+ when their ad-free services are cheaper than the ad-free option. And unless they offer downloads, consider me not interested. Still haven't tried Hulu since they're stream only.

It just isn't a service I'm interested in. I was actually serious about signing up for Disney+ until I started seeing a list of the content they have on their service. It's most aimed at pre-K children and I've been hearing lately that Disney has been removing its own content from the service (what for, I have no idea). It just seems ridiculous that if your studio owns the content on the series that it doesn't make sense to remove it from your own service. It can't be a rights or licensing issue because Disney owns the content that was removed. Maybe in a year or two when Disney+ has its act together, I might sign up for it but it just feels like Disney+ wasn't exactly planned out. HBO Max seems like a good service and I wouldn't mind signing up for it if they are going to provide the entire DC Comics catalog of their comic book titles. THAT would more than be worth it to sign up. It's just with all of these streaming services coming from every studio under the sun, it's the same as paying for a cable subscription. I have a Comcast subscription, Prime Video and the upcoming Peacock service (which is free to Comcast subscribers), I don't think I need more than that. |

D+ has had to remove a few movies because of pre-existing deals. If, for example, Netflix had bought the rights for Captain America for January thru July, D+ has to honor that agreement & remove it from their service until August. There's only a few of these deals left, after those are done, everything Disney will only ever be on D+.

Well, I know that Prime Video also has quite a few of the MCU films on their service as well. Far as the different streaming services go, unless it's added by the manufacturer of your smart TV of it's added by your cable provider, through an update, you can't get it.
The main reason why I'm not signing up for Disney+ is because they don't have a lot of content that I'm interested in and I don't see Disney+ adding the entire Marvel Comics library to their service. The other thing is that Disney+ will likely be increasing the price of its service (this has been speculated about by a lot of entertainment journalists harping on the issue that the current pricing model is an introductory offer for its launch). They could entice me if Disney would produce HD masters of those classic TV shows like M*A*S*H*, Married With Children and more. But, with the schedule of content that Disney+ has been adding, it's all aimed at the kiddies and Disney has such a high number of content from the Fox library with shows like MASH and Married With Children. With Peacock, NBC Universal has already stated that a long list of studio owned TV series will be included at launch. What makes Peacock so inviting is classic shows such as Incredible Hulk, Knight Rider, Knight Rider 2008, Team Knight Rider, A-Team, Murder She Wrote, Magnum P.I., Battlestar Galactica 1978 and 2004 series, Buck Rogers, Cheers, Frasier, 30 Rock and so on. They just have a ton of content ready to launch and being a Comcast subscriber, that network traffic doesn't count toward your broadband data limits. |

So three tiers, two of which have ads.
Peacock Free available July 15th wide will offer over 7,500 hours of programming including next day streaming for new “Freshman” shows, classic seasons, and popular movies. Select Peacock Premium programming will also be available along curated daily programming. Peacock Premium available April 15th at no cost for Comcast & Cox subscribers and July 15th at $4.99 for other providers offers the content from Peacock Free and adds all the Peacock Premium programs, next day streaming for returning shows, early access for late night talk shows, and additional sports content. If you don’t want ads while using Peacock Premium then it will be $5.00 a month for Comcast & Cox subscribers and $9.99 for other providers. |

Is that $5/$10 total or on top of the $4.99 subscription to get no ads? If it's total, that's not bad... but until enough originals are out, I can just watch current shows free with ads on the NBC app anyway. I'll subscribe when I have enough originals to save up and watch lol Also, instead of waiting until 11 and 12 and 12:40ish to watch Fallon/Seth/Singh (I only watch guests, and only guests I care about lol never the full show), you can watch them 4 hours early? That's sort of interesting... Also interesting that Yellowstone will be on it since it's not produced by Universal... This worries me though: "According to Deadline, NBCUniversal hopes to make a reboot of The Office, which itself was a remake of a British series." Last edited by kevin87; 01-18-2020 at 08:02 AM. |
