Let me rephrase. Why do most German (collectors) releases come in the mediabook form? Is it a cultural thing? And I don't think they look nice because they are not uniform in size with a standard case.

Thanks for those. I was debating if I should stick with the cheaper German release or wait for the UK one. The large "nicht gesellschaftsfähig" (even though I relate ) settles it now : Cancelling the German one and will wait for the UK release for the proper English cover. I would've survived the missing "The" and the small German texts.

Forgot to cancel my order of the German release in lieu of the UK one, already on the way. Oh well, same disc at least. Should have it in a day or so to evaluate.

Got my copy and gave it a watch. Looks good, grain is intact and hasn't been DNR'd like a lot of German releases. Just a simple encoding of the 2020 restoration to disc with an HDR grade, no alterations but also no extras aside from the trailer. I wouldn't be surprised if the inevitable Kino or Criterion US release is maybe a bit better in terms of encode but for now this is the best the movie's looked on home video. Could detect subtle signs of age in Monroe's face you couldn't before--but only very subtle. Incredible that she still looked like that in her mid-30s while struggling with chronic insomnia every night.
