I'm very premature for this but i've been reading about this movie for a while and i'm very excited for it. A big budget fantasy adventure set in Egypt directed by Alex Proyas who did The Crow, Dark City, I, Robot and Knowing. Now i have no definite confirmation on whether it is a 3D movie but it sounds pretty huge scale so i would be amazed if it's not 3D. What surprises me is that it's not out until 2016 as it feels like a good while ago i heard about them casting this. |

Thanks for the trailer. Looks like fun. Good to see Gerald Butler back in a familiar role. This reminds me slightly of Immortals 3D which I liked. Yeah, hopefully the 3D will be strong in depth, and pop outs when available.
Not a big deal for a lower budget production as this may be, though the CGI at times is not entirely convincing for the winged human like gods mostly right around 22 seconds roughly. The animation/textures/rendering in particular looks like it can use refinement for the movement in a shot or two. The snake monsters at the end look very good though. |

According to Variety, the budget is $140 million. Apparently all but $10 million of it is covered by foreign pre-sales and Australian tax credits.
I'm not a fan of making the gods normal-looking humans who sometimes turn into weird robot animals, and it's also kinda skeevy that all but one of these ancient Egyptian gods are played by white dudes. Otherwise it seems like a decently fun bit of fantasy. |

It's like someone noted the success of The Mummy and The Transformers movie franchises and decided stupid sells.
In spite of those precedents, I could see this being a bit of a flop. |
