Default Harvey Keitel to play gangster Meyer Lansky in biopic

Voltage Pictures has boarded the project and hopes to spark international sales at Cannes. Rockaway wrote the script from a story by Ido Fluk and Sharon Mashihi, partially based on interviews with the real-life Lansky conducted by Rockaway’s father, history professor Robert Rockaway.

This has already been filmed.

Fortunately, they got it filmed and wrapped before the lockdown began.

Post-production is likely delayed, but the principal photography is completed.

Looking forward to it. Keitel plays the elderly Lansky; another actor plays him younger in flashbacks.

Yeah, that article is a year old. Thought there'd be some release date news or something by now....

But I'm very interested in this for Keitel... despite the random director.

Yes, I'm not expecting a masterpiece.

I just hope Keitel has a good amount of screen time and something to do with that screen time.

I miss the days when Keitel was in mostly good films, and was likely my favorite living, working actor.

I'd first noticed him way early on, in the 70s Scorsese films, as well as gems like "The Duellists", "Blue Collar", and "Fingers". Then, like everyone else, I kinda mostly forgot him for a few years. Then, he started to come back around the time of Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ" and Jack Nicholson's "The Two Jakes". Going into the 90s, Keitel finally hit his peak period, and from 1991 until the early 2000s, he was my favorite actor working at the time.

As he's gotten older, he is in far fewer films, and has sadly mostly been in lousy, direct to video films for quite a few years, now.

He's turned up in cameos in a few Wes Anderson films, now, and occasionally does an overlooked gem like "Two Men in Town" or "Youth", but he's largely not getting great work these days.

He did, however, just turn in a fine, but all-too-brief, performance in Scorsese's "The Irishman". And he has another brief role in the shattering "The Painted Bird".

It's really nice to see him getting some late career good films to be in in his twilight years.

I hope this turns out to be a pleasant surprise.

Really looking forward to this! Funny that Keitel played Lanski in Bugsy and now he's taking the Ben Kingsley role.

The company listed on the rating is the production company, MLI Pictures L.L.C., that's the company listed. So I honestly don't know right now, all we know is that the production company has gotten an MPA rating for it.

The prosethic nose looks ridiculous. I'm getting Travolta Gotti vibes from this trailer. Will wait for reviews on this one before paying to see it.

Being the world's biggest Harvey Keitel fan, I'll definitely see this. I just hope it's actually good.

I saw the thumbnail for this on YT, and initially thought it was Gene Hackman...

I would love to see Harvey Keitel is what will supposedly be the last Quentin Tarantino movie ever in 2023.

Me, too.

I'd hoped for years that he and Scorsese would work together one more time, and they finally did. Now, I hope he works with Tarantino one more time.
