Australia Minuscule - Valley of the Lost Ants 3D Blu-ray (2013) [Region Locked / Free]

Minuscule: The Valley Of The Lost Ants 3D Blu-ray

Puchased my copy from the United Kingdom @
Amazon.co.uk

The movie was produced in France in 2013.
A native-3D production that also plays in 2D.
The film is unique in that it uses native-3D forest backdrops, streams and insects in the background and native-3D CGI animation for the story that unfolds.
Overview:
Quote:
In a peaceful little clearing, the remains of a picnic hastily abandoned spark warfare between two tribes of ants. At stake a box of sugar. A bold young ladybut finds himself caught in the middle of the battle. He befriends one of the black ants, Mandible, and helps him to save the anthill from the assault of the terrible red ant warriors, led by the fearful Butor. An epic journey at ground level...
The Australian Blu-ray 3D version: EAN Barcode# 9-218500-052599 I received is listed as Region B, but I personally verified there is no region coding on the Blu-ray 3D+2D disc (will play in regions A,B,& C).
Released on 7/22/2014
Runtime: 90 minutes
Aspect ratio: 2.35:1
Audio: English DTS-HD MA 5.1 (Australian version)
SRP in $29.95 AUD (Aussie Dollars)
Insects do not speak. There are occasional caricature sounds for comic effect.

Thanks for the info. I wanted to get the Korean release, but it didn't include English subs.

$50 is kind of expensive. This one isn't even sold by Amazon.

Ditto.....brought this on someones good views on our local (New Zealand) "amazon" which is "mightyape" it did have a few cool moments but overall not impressive and very slow Shame really the trailer looked kind of cool!

Ranks at the lower end of my collection...........

Default Minuscules: Valley of the Lost Ants 3D

I saw some trailers on You tube and this short 89 minute tale looked good. Anyone seen this in 3D? It's French film with an English track but it's locked to Region B for those that don't have a region free BD player. For now I'd like to hear from anyone before blind buying.

Official Trailer: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...36499718,d.eWE

Nevermind, Amazon price (54.38) is too heavy for an ant to carry.

Never seen it, but AmazonUS has the Australian version for $20+ from third-party sellers.

Also, member EVERRET confirmed it plays in Region A.

Has anyone seen this recently in 3D? Thoughts? I imagine the 3D is similar to other micro filmed 3D documentaries.

I wouldn't say that the 3D equals that of say, David Attenborough's Micro Monsters but it's pleasant enough. Depth is reasonably decent and separation is good as you'd expect, but I found myself wishing that the CGI insects would pop out more than they did. There isn't even much in the way of foliage popping out. Anyway, it's nice to look at and certainly picks up for the finale but it's a fairly conservative presentation overall, much as you'd get from Disney/Pixar. In the absence of A Bug's Life this will have to do...

There's no spoken language in the whole film, so any version will do if you can't play Region B. I think there's a single bit of on-screen text at the beginning or the end, but that's it. The insects just make noises - beeps, squeaks etc - to communicate.

I think so, I have the Australian disc and I recall watching interviews with the filmmakers...

So glad to have helped. You know to me this like buying a piece of artwork and artwork that moves at that. So what if there isn't any talking, after I watch it once, the next time I watch I will have the movie playing but will mute TV and put on my Bluetooth headphones(I have two great over the ear pairs, Creative Audio Platinum noise cancelling and Parrot Zik noise cancelling with iTunes App) and listen some music probably something from HAWKWIND. Someday maybe I'll watch Gods Of Egypt again but only with the movie muted and listening to some of my music on my iPad. Sayonara.

Did you not read the first post where Paul H confirms that the Australian version is region free?

Here we go again, why does my questions bother you so much, please don't bother to answer if your going to you have nothing positive to say.....

And apparently i did not read it or i would not have asked the question.. i don't go thru every comment and read, i ask my fellow members questions like everyone else and they "kindly and respectfully answer"...

Did anyone get the German 3D edition? I'm wondering whether the extras (Making Of etc.) will be solely German audio, or if there'll be French/English audio/subs available on those. The insects in the film may not speak, but I'm pretty sure the crew do...
