Default DTS:X and "Dolby Atmos" speakers

Can DTS:X audio objects intended to come from above play through the upward-firing drivers on "Dolby Atmos" speakers?

Absolutely. Dolby Atmos speakers which are just average ceiling speakers (that's been on the market for decades) and newly upfiring speakers that can be utilize for DTS:X audio.

DTS:X does not have settings / compensation for Dolby upfiring speakers so although they work they are not optimised. If using in-ceiling or on wall height speakers then DTS:X has the exact same support as Dolby.
