This is great to see. It's such a great movie and glad to see it's getting the upgrade. I wish the director had been able to work more but nice that more people will discover this gem.

After the release of Come and See, this one should have been more obvious to me. Day 1 for sure.

The Ascent is a terrific film but I wished they had also upgraded Shepitko's Wings at the same time which is a masterpiece in my eyes.

Watched the Criterion disc last night and enjoyed the film. I'm always willing to watch a WWII film I haven't seen and this was a good one. A bit on the depressing side, but overall very effective.

Parts of it reminded me of Paths of Glory and the Human Condition trilogy as well. Now I really hope Criterion gives us that trilogy on Blu-ray before long.
