Default Blu-ray 720p vs 1080p

how does blu ray look on a 720p tv compared to a 1080p? right now i have a sony 40in 1080p tv for my bedroom and it is too big. so im thinking of returning it and getting a 32in 720p tv. but im afraid that blu ray won't look the same.

I barely notice the difference between my 42" 1080p and my 37" 720p - generally the rule of thumb between 1080p and 720p is that you won't notice too much difference when the screen is 37" or small.

When you start using 720p on 40" or bigger, that is where you can see a change.

It will still look good on 720p, though 1080p is better.

There are many threads on 1080p. I find that film grain dosen't carry over as well at 720p. If I want to look into an image and get everything, you need 1080p.

Depends on a lot of parameters, including how far from the screen you sit. You need to look at the whole package when deciding on a screen, including black level and contrast ratio and colors. These are probably more important considerations than resolution at the size you're considering.
