Sounds like only 2 of the 3 films are getting the 4K treatment?

Just noticed that. I updated the title to reflect it's just those two titles coming to 4K.

So is the commentary with Araki, Johnathon Schaech, James Duval, and Rose McGowan not included on this? I see it was on the recent Doom Generation Blu-ray.

Not surprising with the heavy use of SD footage on the first film. I'm glad it's at least getting a release as didn't think it would (Strand only announced Doom+Nowhere). 2 films on one disc is more problematic especially with Criterion.

This is fantastic news! Glad to see the rumor mill was right about this!

Now if Criterion could also get their hands on Araki’s Mysterious Skin ‘cause that’s one I need on 4K.

The previous standalone blu-ray release of Doom Generation is only about 20GB in size.

Interesting to see this first hybrid BD + 4K set from Criterion without all films in 4K. This certainly opens up possibilities for a larger Bergman-esque set in the future when not all films have been or can be restored in 4K. This would be perfect for directors like Ozu in particular where the silent films could comfortably come on BD and his later masterpieces in 4K.

Or Kurosawa. Those early few films aren't going to get UHDs, but nearly everything else could/should.
