Sony HT-DDW790 and PS3

I am thinking of buying this Sony HT-DDW790 Home Theater System. I've got a PS3 and a Full HD TV.
I was wonderung how i have to plug the Ps3 in and still be able to watch things at 1080p. The HT-DDW790 has 2 HDMI-In and 1 HDMI-Out, but it says it can only Display up to 1080i, it has also got a optical-In (Full-specs are on the Link). Can I just plug the PS3 in my TV via HDMI and let the Sound go throught the Reciever via Optical?

It has HDMI I/O so you can feed your PS3 into it and out, although it only supports upto 1080i, so if your TV is 1080p, you'd be best hooking the PS3 to your TV directly.

Not sure from these specs if the amp supports audio over HDMI ... anyone?

But honestly, if you have a 37" HDTV and a PS3 ... I'd recommend living with that for now .... save up some cash, then buy a proper A/V receiver which will accept 7.1 over HDMI & some speakers.
