United Kingdom Doctor Who: The Evil of the Daleks (Sept 2021)

Doctor Who: The Evil of the Daleks Blu-ray

Doctor Who: The Evil of the Daleks Blu-ray

Just announced

The Evil of the Daleks is coming to blu ray & dvd

Patrick Troughton stars in this recreation of a lost classic from 1967.

The TARDIS has been stolen. Marooned on Earth in the year 1966, the Doctor and Jamie set out to find the missing time-machine. Their investigations bring them to a mysterious London antiques shop, where all the antiques all seem to be brand new. Kidnapped by the antique shop's owner, the Doctor is then brought face to face with a very old enemy - the Daleks. Working from a house in Victorian England, the Daleks have a new master plan to conquer the universe. And in order to carry it out, they need the Doctor's help.

The original 1967 master recordings of 'The Evil of the Daleks' were lost soon after the programme's original transmission. However, audio-only recordings of all seven episodes have survived and have been used here to create a brand new fully animated presentation of this lost classic.

Oh Sweet! This one was in the cards for a while now, and with the (multiple) leaks and what not, they sure kept us waiting!

The tsunami of Doctor Who releases continues. Pretty sure it's the only show the BBC put on Blu-ray these days.

Oddly, there's still a conspicuous two-release gap in the catalogue... where I thought the next animation would end up. Perhaps it's actually the delayed Series 13.

Code:
0517	Doctor Who - Series 7 (Steelbook) 14 December 2020
0518	Doctor Who - Time Lord Victorious 9 November 2020
0519	Doctor Who - Revolution of the Daleks 25 January 2021
0520	Doctor Who - The Collection - Season 24 (Limited)	28 June 2021
0521	Doctor Who - The Web of Fear 16 August 2021
0522	Doctor Who - The Web of Fear (Steelbook) 16 August 2021
0523	?????
0524	?????
0525	Doctor Who - Series 8 (Steelbook) 19 April 2021
0526	Doctor Who - The Collection - Season 12 (Standard)	31 May 2021
0527	Doctor Who - The Collection - Season 19 (Standard)	31 May 2021
0528	Doctor Who - The Collection - Season 10 (Standard)	5 July 2021
0529	Doctor Who - The Collection - Season 18 (Standard)	5 July 2021
0530	?????
0531	Doctor Who - The Evil of the Daleks 27 September 2021
0532	Doctor Who - The Evil of the Daleks (Steelbook) 27 September 2021
Though does all but confirm that the re-release of Season 23 will be with us imminently.

Let's hope they haven't gone the "Bloody hell, that's lazy cheap shit animation" route of Web of Fear...

This is the team that did Faceless Ones (which is the Power/Shada/Macra team with a different director), so it will be better than that. As the preview supports...

After Web of Fear I'm just glad his arms don't look like they're going to float off on their own.

As confirmed (and as people saw it coming) Mark Ayres has confirmed that the Beatle songs won't be on this release. So with that confirmed, anyone knows where I can hear the original audio including the Beatles music?

You could always look for the Loose Cannon reconstructions on the interweb. They used to be all up on dailymotion but that was a number of years ago, and I downloaded them all.

Wonder if this does not bode well for future releases of The Chase and Remembrance of the Daleks or merely a one-time thing?

At least in those cases, the DVDs exist with those scenes intact.

I would think the missing Beatles music is due to international copyright not just for the audio but for any images used too.

Think you are correct. The Beatles music only got permitted with a BBC clearance for use in the UK so IIRC they had to produce separate DVD masters for the UK R2 PAL and Australia R4 PAL where they had to use substitute music.

It seems for the BDs the BBC only want to produce one master which would therefore need to be valid everywhere so the UK lose the music they may have been able to use if a version was produced only for the UK market.

Mark Ayres has said the the UK and international versions are getting different replacement music for EotD. This, presumably, bodes well for the UK versions in cases where international licensing is more tricky.

Some progress from my excessive checking! In the last few hours, my order has flipped to Preparing for Dispatch, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will ship overnight and I'll wake up to a dispatch notice tomorrow.
