Now then... a number of our industry and retail sources are telling is that Disney’s third 4K Ultra HD release will be*Cars 3*on 11/7, day and date with Blu-ray and DVD. It will also be the first 4K release of a Pixar title. We expect an official announcement soon.

now the 1 million dollar question - who or will the 3D disc come out as well as a store specific exclusive ?? I thought some of the scenes in 3D looked so tactile, in 4K, the colors will have such a tremendous extra pop to it!

I'm hoping that Pixar like Marvel will mandate at least one UHD combo pack will include the 3D disc - come on Best Buy!!

Pixar blu-rays are always reference quality for both PQ/AQ, now when it comes to 4K i'm anxious to see how they could top that... can't wait

I ordered the Zavvi steelbook to get my 3D and to complete my Cars steelbook collection. If they do what Marvel did with Guardians. I will happily cancel and get the best of both worlds here

That it's all animation is actually the very reason it absolutely will not have to be. However, it very likely will be.

It was definitely a 2K DCP, but that kind of thing hasn't stopped Pixar in the past. They re-rendered Toy Story in higher resolution for Blu-ray; they could re-render Cars 3 in higher resolution for UHD.
