Edit: I couldn't remember the name, but Skywalker said it, Mylicon. 3 drops every feeding time and he felt better for about the first month. |

The majority of babies with colic usually have reflux. You might want to go to your son's pediatrician. If it is reflux it's easily treatable with medication. I don't have a baby of my own so I can't help much with diagnosing for you, however as a pharmacist a see a lot of babies being treated for reflux.

She has not been colicy (is that a real word?) but she has at times not been pooping and we thought she was backed up. We gave her Gripe Water which helps treat Colic/Gas/reflux and within 24hrs out the other end came a nice little present and a happier baby.

![]() We were using quite a bit of mylicon, but then we switched to the "sensitive" (orange lid) type formula to supplement breast feeding, and everytghing went much better. Not saying it solves everything of course, but gaz discomfort for a baby = major cryin' cause in my (recent) experience ![]() |

We just stopped breast feeding him. Right now, we are using a Similac soy formula. We tried some gripe water (made by Wellness i think), but it didn't work. Right now we are using colic tabs (by Hylands) that dissolve in his mouth. I was thinking about trying Colic Calm gripe water. Anyone ever use it?

Mylicon never worked for us. Changing formula and sleeping positions did. We tried to keep her upright as much as possible after feedings (and always held her upright for at least 30 minutes after feedings). Some parents even let them sleep in their carseat on the floor. We didn't do it often, but it did work. The biggest thing was formula. I think we use Enfamil, and we switched to I believe the soy formula but it might've been the Enfamil AR. Check this: http://www.enfamil.com/app/iwp/enfam...nfamilARLIPIL2. It's more expensive, but completely worth it. Eventually we switched to soy (the AR made her break out in heat rash or something), and still have her on that. Know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. It will get better once you introduce solids. |

Incline her bed. There's also the "miracle blanket" that I forgot to mention. http://www.miracleblanket.com. Helped out TREMENDOUSLY, but it was a pain to get rid of when we finally got rid of it. I also think it might have stunted her rolling ability, but she's 11 months and crawling/rolling like a madman. The formula, inclining, medicine, and miracle blanket did the trick for us. There was absolutely ZERO "grinning and bearing it" when it came to her bad reflux. People who have slightly colicy babies don't know the hell that Schultzy (and his child) are enduring. Schultzy, feel free to PM me with specific questions...as long as you aren't a UofM fan. |

I have never seen that blanket, but I will try anything. How thick/heavy is it? Since we live in AZ, it is painfully hot right now, so I don't want to bake him. I am not a Wolverine fan...I am a fanatic!!! ![]() |

They put 2-month-olds on Prevacid & Zantac? Jesus...we love drugs in this country, don't we?
Some kids are just terrible sleepers. I know...I have one. Sure, he's had the occasional gas bubble...when my wife would eat something that didn't agree with him (was 100% breastfed until solids)...and for that, Mylicon worked...but he's never slept through the night, and he's pushing 17 months old. It happens. |

My wife nursed both our children for 6 months at least. Niether had colic issues.
Our tight group of friends all have 2 girls and no boys. When I add in cousins around the same age, there's 11 girls and 1 boy. I don't think gender has anything to do with it, however the only child with colic was the boy. He was also the only one on formula. I've heard in the past that nursing really reduces the chances of colic, however I've got no idea if there's scietific merit. Anyways, nursing seems to have helped our small research group! ![]() |
