Default Battle of the Bonds: Octopussy vs. Never Say Never Again

'Sup?

It seems 1983 was the 'Battle of the Bonds' with two rival 007 films released that year: Roger Moore's penultimate outing, Octopussy, and Sean Connery's return to the role in the unofficial Never Say Never Again. But which do you prefer?

(The reason I ask is because I recently watched the 23 official films plus Never Say Never Again and I'm currently obsessed with anything related to Bond. I just need to watch the sixties version of Casino Royale and then all will be right with the world).

Oh, and if you want my opinion, Octopussy is good fun and Never Say Never Again is celluloid evil.

Saw both in the cinema 31 years ago Moore's outing wins but NSNA has its moments.

Octopussy is interesting because of settings. Also it´s a Bond movie.
Never Say Never Again - I really don´t wanna see this movie ever again.

I love both of these films dearly, but the slight edge goes to Octopussy, simply because it feels more like a James Bond movie. Never Say Never Again is all in good fun, but it gets somewhat creaky during the final half.

Also, Octopussy includes a scene featuring a harem of beautiful scantily-clad women that launch a sword-fighting attack on a palace.

Did I mention that Octopussy includes a scene featuring a harem of beautiful scantily-clad women that launch a sword-fighting attack on a palace?

Never Say Never Again is a good flick, but it lacks a certain touch that would bring it up to the level of Octopussy. In other words, Never Say Never Again lacks...well...it lacks a scene featuring a harem of beautiful scantily-clad women that launch a sword-fighting attack on a palace.

This is the correct answer. There are so many great bond films. I don't think these 2 are among them.

Connery is the best Bond.

Octopussy. One of the best bond films from the Roger Moore era.

Octopussy obviously has the better name of the two. Connery is the better Bond between the two, but Roger's movies are fun.

I really like Never Say Never Again. Minus the intro, it still feels like a Bond film to me. Favorite moment is when Bond goes R. Kelly on the villain and slings his piss in the guy's face.

I guess I'm bucking the trend but .........

It's Never say Never Again and Sean Connery

I just never really cared for the silliness that was Roger Boore

Octopussy Sean seemed very out of shape in Never Say Never.

Both past primes here. Generally speaking I prefer all Connery Bonds over Moore with the exception of the Spy Who Loved Me, one of the best ever.
