That will hopefully meld into a more positive storyline considering this series has been upbeat most of the time with comedy.

Cars 1 is fun, though Cars 2 focused way too much on Towmater, a secondary character, and forgot what made Cars 1 good IMO. Hopefully Cars 3 3D gets back to the roots.

The 3D is generally decent in Cars 2, low medium to medium 3D layers, mostly.

I wonder if there will be another Planes movie, of which I didn't see the first one yet.

I didn't mind the sequel, but Mater can get a bit annoying at times. This looks better than the sequel. Most people mentioned it that I also agreed with is that the animation is flawless and photo-realistic, meaning that the cars looked real. Similar to The Good Dinosaur. Surprised at the dark tone. I went from not interested to excited real fast.

The animation is definitely very photo-realistic...also a bit of a darker colour palette than on the previous 2. Like that this may be a slightly gritty addition to the world of Cars...hopefully the 3D will be good. Definitely looking forward to this one! Hope a full trailer comes soon.

Yes I like the first cars movie better than the second but enjoyed both in 3d. I know my kids will be trying to go as soon as it's out.

Thanks.
I like the fact that they're focused on the race track. Hopefully the movie involves what Lightning was built for, though from the look of this
[Show spoiler]major crash, he's probably going to need to be repaired as a non racing car and that "You'll never race again"
sentiment, and he builds he way back to being the top driver. That could make for a good story.

I hope the 3D is as good as Pixar's The Good Dinosaur.

From that trailer and from Cars 2's green message, I'm guessing "everything will change" means he is going electric - or at least hybrid. The chase car looked like a current E-series vehicle.

That would be funny. I can't imagine this series would take a darker turn for the theme, so that would make sense as to why this teaser trailer is more grim, answered with a comical shift.

Saw the teaser in 3D with Moana the other day. The 3D looks spectacular.

Thanks, that looks promising. I hope the story sticks with the focus on Lightning, unlike part 2 which focused way too much on Towmater. Cars 1 was enjoyable in the theaters, and on display in Best Buy, it was the reason I was convinced to give HD 1080p a try back then.

EDIT: Accidentally double posted back in January I just noticed.

Cars 3 3D is in theaters today, competing with Transformers Last Knight 3D.

Saw this today in 3D. It is a return towards the 1st movie that has Lightning McQueen in the lead while Towmater takes a back seat, so to speak. The 3D was a bit medium to medium-strong. There were a few night scenes that quite obviously dimmed things (3D) down. There is a bit of a twist at the end that was so cool. As usual I expect the 3D to work better on the 3D Blu at home. A good movie to take the kids, if not the whole family to see.

Plus there was 3D short before the film called Leo. It was quite cool.

There were two 3D trailers...

Despicable Me 3 3D
Ferdinand 3D

Thanks for checking it out, Hardkore. If you had to compare the 3D to another Pixar movie, which one would it be? The Good Dinosaur's medium to high medium 3D, to this day, is possibly still their best 3D effort compared to more mild 3D Pixar films, but hopefully this matches it with the 3D.

Is Cars 3 more like Cars 1, with the focus on Lightning McCloud, instead of Towmater as it was in part 2? Thanks.

The only other Pixar movies I've seen in 3D are Cars 1 & 2 (I think.I'll have to look them up). It is probably closer to Cars 1 in the sense of 3D. Yes, Cars 3 focuses more on,wait, Lightning McWho?!
Like I said,Towmater "takes a back seat' in this one. He is relegated more to comic relief at various times thru it.

I had forgotten that I have Planes 1 & 2 in 3D blu. Both are good. I still think Cars 3 is closer to Cars1 in 3D. Cars 2 doesn't really have any night time scenes except for the very beginning. Plus it has plenty of aerial shots that are nice in 3D. Cars 1 & 3 are just the opposite in both accounts. Yes, to me, I think Cars 2 has the better 3D.

I thought Transformers: Last Knight started next week end.

Speaking of Planes, how is the 3D in that one and would it be too "juvenile" for a couple of oldsters who have a vast collection of animated (and prefer) 3D movies?
I have read it is almost Cars, in regards to the storyline, but with airplanes.

Planes 1 3D is pretty good. I liked it instantly on 1st viewing. Planes 2 amped up the 3D a good bit. It blew me away.

As far as if it would be too "juvenile", I guess it would depend on how "young at heart" you are. If you enjoy a good story with some humor as well as suspense and romance(yes romance,or as close as you can get) in an animated film, you should be able to enjoy it. Some would simply write this off as "for the kids" since it is animated.

Planes is a little different, but similar, in regards to the story. At first he is a crop duster that dreams of being a racer. He manages to qualify and then gets a mentor to train him.

Thanks! Sounds like I should consider adding this one to the collection.
I hope there isnt an annoying Mater type character in it. I can't stand that "guy" He makes me want to

Oh and I assume Planes 2 is the one called "Fire and Rescue"?

Yes Planes -Fire and Rescue is the sequel. He has a "career ending injury" type of wreck and instead of making a comeback, is forced to reevaluate things and then make a change of career. He goes into fire and rescue.
