Saw the trailer when I went to see Dune: Part Two. Can’t wait!

I’m so glad they didn’t try to de-age Charlize Theron using AI technology, and actually brought in a younger actress for Furiosa. Good on George Miller for making that call. Keeping expectations real, this should be a great prequel.

Looking forward to this movie. I'm figuring that there will be a U.S. steelbook either Walmart Exclusive or a general release. I already have a Walmart gift card ready.

For me, it's a visual and auditory pleasure. I liked the stunning images and clear details that make the post-apocalyptic world incredibly exciting. The sound quality is first-rate, bringing the explosive action and rich atmosphere to life. In my opinion, this issue is suitable for Mad Max enthusiasts and action fans.

Disclaimer - I've quite enjoyed Anya Taylor-Joy in the handful of films I've seen with her.

That said, when I recently saw the official poster plastered all over downtown London I couldn't help but laugh out loud. I think she looks ridiculous in the role.

That looks like a poster problem because she looks great in the trailers.

Don't like the casting here. She is too small and thin. Maybe she will look tall and big in IMAX lol.

I'm looking forward to this but I would've preferred a direct sequel to Fury Road over a prequel. Still don't understand how it took them almost a decade to make another film, considering FR was so successful. Hoping they stick to practical effects and only use CGI sparingly and when absolutely necessary.
That's because it wasn't so successful. A modest one at best. After factoring in marketing it likely lost money.

She’s just two inches shorter than Charlize Theron

I agree, a sequel would have been preferred. After Fury Road won 6 oscars in 2016, and had been nominated for 4 more, I thought a sequel called "Mad Max: The Wasteland" was going into production, bringing back Tom Hardy again. No such luck, yet. This new one will have to do, for now.

U.S. steelbook pre-order is up at Walmart. It says Limited Edition steelbook but doesn't say if it's Walmart exclusive. So it may be like Dune Part 2 which was a general release steelbook.

$34.96

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Furiosa-A...ros/5700098167

Walmart exclusive or not, I like the art and have just pre-ordered.

ETA

The 4K steelbook is also up for pre-order at Amazon now.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D3VHSM6R...hk_typ_imgToDp

So this is a general release steelbook like Dune Part 2 and will be at multiple retailers. The Amazon price I'm sure will come down ($54.97) but I will stick with the Walmart pre-order I made a little bit ago since I don't have to lay out money up front like I would with Amazon with this and already had a Walmart gift card at the ready for this film to pre-order.

Definitely not as good a Fury Road.
[Show spoiler]A good portion of the film takes place with a younger actress so don't expect her for most of the film.

The complaints about the CGI are warranted. Not the worst, but noticeable in many places early in the film. Gets better as the film progresses, but not great overall. He really relied on CGI instead of practical this time around and it shows.
Some of the scenes were stunning though and the Atmos is bombastic in many places. Lots of action, but a lot more plot / dialogue when compared to Fury Road and shouldn't expect the same fast-paced, action-packed previous installment.

If Fury Road is a 10/10, this was a 7.5/10.

I liked this film a lot. It's more brutal and less relentlessly paced than Fury Road, but it really does tell a great story from start to finish. There are oddities that are very noticeable, such as the recasting of Furiosa and Immortan Joe, but the acting and action in this movie was excellent, and the continuity with Fury Road stands out and was better than I was expecting. I thought the picture quality was also crisp and clean, should make for a great 4K.
