Moderator note: Thunderbolts* is only being released on 3D Blu-ray in Japan, in a combo pack with the 4K disc and a 2D Blu-ray. The discs include English audio and optional subtitles for the film. You will have to turn these on and off manually for the Russian language scenes. Despite being marked as Region A, all of the discs in the set are likely to be REGION FREE. Similarly, all discs are expected to have a letterbox aspect ratio with no expanded aspect ratio IMAX scenes. Amazon Japan have an exclusive SteelBook and variety of tat as usual, but will only deliver to a Japanese address (see note in red below). All other disc releases worldwide are flat.

The same goes for the standard edition but it's not Amazon exclusive so can be bought from other retailers (e.g. HMV Japan or AmiAmi). YesAsia is another option though they have limited pre-order stock so you may have to wait until release date. Just be sure to note the cancellation and shipping policies. Original post: SDFX has confirmed that it will be responsible for the 3D conversion of the film, but from what I've seen, the work hasn't started yet (IMDB). ![]() https://www.sdfxstudios.com/immersive-3d-vfx Last edited by the13thman; 07-28-2025 at 11:46 AM. SDFX (Stereo D), one of the best, though they're bound by the producer's budget they get for how strong the 3D will be or not, as usual. It's nice that Marvel continues to support 3D in some form (despite not getting these films on blu ray 3D worldwide and only in Japan 4K blu ray 3D). |

3D before Captain New World 3D in Thunderbolts trailer looks really good. Medium to some strong 3D layers.

Looking forward to seeing this in 3D. I hope it's at least a medium 3D conversion, but would be great if it's strong 3D like much of Avengers Infinity War 3D.

Of the two of us, you’re the one who has some bizarre obsession with Disney. I got into this franchise way before Disney bought it. I don’t give a rat’s bahookie which corporation owns the franchise as long as I keep enjoying the movies. I wouldn’t care if it was owned by WBD, or Paramount or Sony or even MGM… To say it has anything to do with Disney is as silly as claiming (also falsely) that people who are into the Avatar, Alien, or Predator movies only like them because Disney owns them. Can you please explain what is so special about Disney (to you, at least) Secondly, it’s a darn good movie by any standard for folks who like good entertainment. Here’s hoping you stop obsessing over Disney ![]() |

Got to watch this in IMAX today (there were no 3D screenings scheduled for today) and loved every minute of it - this is definitely a top-notch cast working at the peak of their powers.
Will be watching it again in 3D IMAX just as soon as I can. Oh and you should DEFINITELY stay until the end of the credits. It will put a smile on your face!! |

Caught this one in IMAX 3D earlier this afternoon. There were maybe 15 people in the theater at 4PM (the only IMAX 3D showing of the day). I largely went into it with zero expectations and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. While some might say that it has some pacing issues here and there, I did find it to be entertaining, funny, and also relatable in some of its themes. As for the IMAX 3D presentation, I was quite surprised by how much of the movie is in the expanded ratio. In fact, I initially began to think that the entire movie would be that way, but that wasn't the case - they just play those sequences quite long. And as is common with many Marvel movies in this format, it's during these sequences that the 3D really shines. This conversion has depth, a pop-out here and there (i.e. a sequence involving laser-sights was particularly impressive), and surprisingly, I actually felt like some of the scenes were borderline about to give me vertigo. Needless to say, I'd place this in the medium-strong category and definitely worth the premium cost. Even though this likely won't be breaking any records and might not be the most memorable superhero movie of the year (still looks like that's going to be Fantastic Four), it's still very much worth seeing.
As a side note, I also got a trailer for Tron: Ares in IMAX 3D and that really looks like it's going to be something cool in that format. While I had seen the trailer on my desktop PC and thought it looked okay, seeing it in IMAX 3D got me far more hyped. Should make for a nice 3D appetizer before Avatar: Fire and Ash later this year. |
