Hurray for 4K !!! This movie was such a blast, constantly defying my expectations during the very short 90mn. Some critics fault the movie for not clearly deciding what it wants to be... For me that was one of the most exhilarating part of it. It's definitely a genre film, but one that's completely unapologetic when it pulls the rug from under you and hops from one genre convention to the next. Genre film enthusiasts who are game should have a blast but if you're not in that mood, I guess it can feel like you're head is stuck in a pinball machine as the movie doesn't waste much time on exposition or explanation.
I find it very sad that critics pretty much dissed the movie (bar a few exceptions), as I found it to be a very refreshing genre entry. I also enjoyed the fact that its feminist tone feels very organic, as it is not a simple gender swap nor an underwritten Mary Sue. The character has just enough backstory and motivation to drive the action, all of it painted with broad strokes (a strength, if you like action movies that are efficient) but well written and acted with enough subtlety that it works. And it manages to do all that without ever being preachy about it (I'm looking at you Wonder Woman). (Sorry if this reads a bit vague, but I really want to avoid spoiling the movie. You should be watching it fresh, with as little info about it as possible). |

Ok this is now starting to become a serious problem for collectors. They are currently locking people who live outside of Germany, for the preorders of this on amazon.de. Being that's its a mediabook to boot,Im afraid by the time they let the rest of the world in for preorders, the amount of copies to be made will have sold out.

Anyone ordered from Capelight direct? Do they used tracked shipping? They seem to ship everywhere. Grooves and JPC will probably get it anyway I guess.
Glad to see this getting a uhd. Looking forward to a double feature of this plus Overlord. |

I watched this yesterday and have no complaints except for one (completely unnecessary - I'll never understand this...) localized German title. There's some real HDR with the BD (I put it in briefly in afterwards) looking very blown out in comparison at times and even without direct comparison that is. That's mostly during the second half/last third of the movie. I think it's brighter than it needs to be then at times, but that's another story and no contest anyway. There's also some very bright spot highlights and I saw > 4,000 when I checked later. It's also the opposite of Showgirls and rather dark and darker than the BD in particular, especially during the first half of the movie.
Capelight is getting a lot of shit and rightfully so, but this is a solid upgrade over the BD in my book and should be even more so with a proper Teevee. It often looked a tad too smooth for my liking, but as far as I can tell, when it does, so does the BD, so digital source it is I guess. Movie wise, I was entertained and the first half in particular was actually kinda cool (and basically a Moretz show), but it had some issues later on. A weird movie for sure, but that's not a bad thing in my book. I recommend not watching a trailer (and find myself saying that every time anyway). I think I might also do a comparison with this one for a change. Last edited by andreasy969; 06-22-2021 at 07:01 PM. Reason: typo |

My favorite movie since Alita. Absolutely DO NOT watch any trailers for this movie. Didn't know any background info about the content of this movie except that it takes place in the 1940's. If you were a fan of "Kick Ass" as I was then this movie tops that by a mile! It was a genuinely entertaining movie. If you're a cinema purist, then you will truly appreciate what this has to offer. A throw back to the good ol times of the 1940's.

The 4K transfer is amazing. The mediabook looks spectacular. You won't be disappointed.

I love the way the mediabook looks and wasn't disappointed with the 4K transfer it looked great in Dolby Vision. As for the story you will have to suspend your disbelief in certain scenes and there was some things I didn't see coming otherwise it was a good movie.
