I believe you're looking at a pre-production picture, which is 2D. I highly doubt that's the way it'll stay. Guess we'll find out for sure when the preview is shown during Wall-E.

it looks like it's gonna be like an old cartoon style movie. I wouldn't put it past John Lasseter. He's very much into the foundations of cartoons. I saw him talking about his appreciations of both art forms in an interview once. Sorry no link.

i don't exactly enjoy pixar production (I love DIsney-only titles more). That being said, ratatouille and finding nemo are exception. I did not enjoy toy story. I hope it will be just as good as finding nemo

I'm a big Pixar fan but not Disney. Disney cartoons just don't cut it and lack any imagination -- for me. I'm excited for WALL-E but I'm a little worried about the future of Pixar beyond WALL-E since Pixar was sold. I hope Disney doesn't have too much influence in the story of future productions.

That's sad if you think Pinnocio or Peter Pan or some of the other great
Disney movies lack imagination, they we're done by Walt Disney himself...

I personally can't wait for Disney Blu Ray's of the old movies including
Sleeping Beauty in Oct.....

If anyone's interested and has a 360 there are some Disney movies in hd
available in the marketplace, not sure about the ps3 though, including Tarzan which looks cool in HD, though i'm sure the Blu Ray will be better

pixar was sold to who? I've heard that walt disney and pixar are now separate (ratatouille was the last film from disney pixar), but they said they will continue to work together beyond ratatouille, and thus WALL-E

You might now know the details of the Disney/Pixar transaction then.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixar#D...ition_of_Pixar
Quote:
On January 24, 2006, Disney announced that it had agreed to buy Pixar for approximately $7.4 billion in an all-stock deal. Following Pixar shareholder approval, the acquisition was completed May 5, 2006. The transaction catapulted Steve Jobs, who was the majority shareholder of Pixar with 50.1%, to Disney's largest individual shareholder with 7% and a new seat on its board of directors. Jobs' new Disney holdings outpace holdings belonging to ex-CEO Eisner, the previous top shareholder who still held 1.7%, and Disney Director Emeritus Roy E. Disney who held almost 1% of the corporation's shares. Roy Disney's criticisms of Eisner included the soured Pixar relationship and accelerated Eisner's ouster.
As part of the deal, Lasseter, Pixar Executive Vice President and co-founder, became Chief Creative Officer (reporting to President and CEO Robert Iger and consulting with Disney Director Roy Disney) of both Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, as well as the Principal Creative Adviser at Walt Disney Imagineering, which designs and builds the company's theme parks. Catmull retained his position as President of Pixar, while also becoming President of Disney Studios, reporting to Bob Iger and Dick Cook, chairman of Walt Disney Studio Entertainment.
Lasseter and Catmull's oversight of both the Disney and Pixar studios did not mean that the two studios were merging, however. In fact, additional conditions were laid out as part of the deal to ensure that Pixar remains a separate entity, a concern that many analysts had about the Disney deal.
So what this says is that Pixar is essentially in charge of all Disney animations now. In fact, John Lasseter was involved with Meet the Robinsons, which may be why it did better than previous Disney movies.
This is a good thing since Disney needs someone to take over their animation since they have no idea what they are doing anymore. This merger will not only fix that, but give Pixar the ability to do what it wants to without the extremely tight budget it had before. And now it can be released world wide very easily with Disney backing them.

that's why disney is the top producer in my DVDSpot account (17 movies). the second top only has 9 movies. I own most of disney classic, including unreleased song of the south (zip-a-dee-doo-dah)

Why is that sad? You actually made my point about Disney. Pinocchio is a 19th century story and Peter Pan was written in the early 1900's, some 50 years before the Disney animation.

Lets see what else? Snow White -- old German Fairy tale. Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland? The only "Disney classic" that comes to mind that I don't think is an adaptation of a fairy tale is Fantasia.

While many of Disney's movies are based on old books and fairy tales, I'm quite certain that they did alter at leat some of the stories somewhat. Bambi is a pretty good example of that if I remember the book correctly. Even without altering the stories though, I'd say the early disney work is pretty imaginative and groundbreaking as far as animation goes.

That being said, I still feel Pixar's storytelling is lightyears ahead of Disney's, and I'm eagerly awaiting anything they put out.

Sorceror's Apprentice is a very old tale, and many of the sequences were derivative

And before anyone says it, Lion King was ripped off of Jungle Taitei/Kimba the White Lion, and Tezuka just doesn't have the kind of cash it'd take to sue
