I just noticed, that a few weeks ago all seasons of the show as well as the complete series set were relisted on iTunes US. That means in additon to the "old" version I bought a year ago, there is also a new version of the set available to buy on iTunes. The single seasons are also newly listed.
I compared the playing times of my old versions of the episodes to those in the new listing and noticed a difference. After that I decided to compare the second episode of the first season (I Love You) on Peacock to the one I own on iTunes. And sure enough. The one I own on iTunes has a running time of 21:18 minutes and the one on Peacock is 22:57 minutes. After that I checked the version that's on Paramount+ and that is also the shorter version I have on iTunes. What seems to be missing in the shorter version is the intro where Raymond builds the castle and explains what the show is about. Later one there is a scence where Raymond and Deb walk back into their house afer having eaten at a restaurant with friends. In the longer version you can see them come into the kitching and having a short conversation. After that they go into the living room where Frank is playing with their daughter. The shorter version of the episode omits the first part of the scene. The scence in the kitchen with Raymond and Deb talking is gone. Instead it cut's directly from the restaurant to an outside shot of the house and then to the part with Frank and his granddaughter. I haven't checked anymore episodes but already saw some additional runtime differences in other episodes. So it appears there are two different digital versions of the show out right know. It's uncut on Peacock and in the new version on iTunes and edited on Paramount+ and the old version on iTunes. Unfortunately the old version I own on iTunes hasen't been replaced with the new owns, because the show was newly listed. Was the Cut/Uncut thing a known fact and I just missed it or is this news to anybody else? Last edited by iceman; 08-30-2023 at 06:24 PM. |

That’s such a bummer, having spent (I forget the exact amount) about $60 or $70 on this, and now a new and improved version gets listed, which previous buyers are expected to re-purchase!
It’s not like it has been re-listed from an SD listing to an HD listing (like with Babylon 5), but just a re-listing with some of the cut scenes re-inserted… Anyone who had previously purchased this should definitely have been given the new version…very poor show by iTunes! |

Maybe it’s because we’ve been spoilt with the free 4K movie upgrades but if the set had been a physical purchase then you wouldn’t expect to get a free replacement when there’s a re-release later down the line. Being physical it would also be advertised as such with a line such as Brand New never before fully uncut episodes! to tempt consumers to buy it again. |

I do agree that if it was an upgrade, from, say SD to HD, then yes, it's a different beast...but simply replacing deleted scenes (that arguably should have been there to begin with) doesn't seem right to expect people to splash out in full again... But that's just my opinion, and your view is just as valid. You could argue that if iTunes releases a movie and someone buys it, and then later down the line they add extras to the movie listing, but instead of just adding them, they re-list the movie and you have to buy it again, and advertise it as "now with 3 hours of added extras"...I wouldn't be happy with that. But hey, that's what makes the world interesting...everyone has their own viewpoint... Thanks |

Off the top of my head, Lord of the Rings Two Towers and Enter The Dragon are two that come to mind. |

I haven't checked, but was Enter the Dragon not an HD to 4K upgrade/re-master? Also, I am pretty sure that I bought the "old" version in HD (a few months ago) and I now have the upgraded version in 4K...I would need to double check that though...
Not sure about The Two Towers...I'll need to look at that one and see which version I have. I bought that very early after its release, and haven't re-purchased it since then. It will be interesting to see which one I "own"... Although there is a growing trend of iTunes re-listing movies that have new features, they do often upgrade the old version that people have purchased too, I believe... |

Is this show ever going to go to Blu-ray?
I won't buy it on DVD because I know that once I do, a short time later there will be an official announcement about it being released on Blu-ray disc. |

I would kill for a Blu Ray release of this show. It looks amazing on Amazon Prime in HD but my internet isn't the greatest so it is not very consistent. Seasons 4-9 were filmed in widescreen so the blu ray versions should look incredible. This is one of my fav shows ever and if it were to be remastered in BD, I would get it in a heartbeat. |

Despite my adoration for Raymond (its probably my favourite sitcom ever), I am not confident in saying it has had the staying power of Frasier or Cheers. |

I'm holding out as well on this one but admit it seems a bit of a longshot. May just cave and pick up the dvd eventually ...

More frustratingly, The King of Queens, which is ELR's sister show, is getting re-released on Blu Ray next month. Makes it extra frustrating that despite being a far more successful show, ELR is still locked in DVD hell while KOQ is thriving on Blu Ray. |

To echo those above, it's definitely completely non-sensical that this show hasn't been released on Blu! |

Seinfeld has just been announced for a 4K UHD release along with a separate blu ray counterpart. The former will have the original 4:3 aspect ratio. I would freaking kill for an ELR blu ray release with the first 3 seasons in its original aspect ratio for Blu Ray. |
