Newly upscaled episodes from the Ninth and Tenth Doctor eras are now available to pre-order in one Blu-ray set! For the ultimate fan, this collection includes every episode and special from the first four series freshly upscaled to high definition using the latest technology, plus the Tenth Doctor specials, existing bonus features and one new extra!
Once again Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi fans get shafted on a complete Blu Ray set..

Newly upscaled? I hope that doesn’t mean AI.

I had the same fear on the news page, and supposedly that's not the case.

I've seen snippets of the UK Blu Rays that came out recently and they don't appear to be AI upscaled. I presume they went back to these due to A) the previous upscales being 10+ years old and this sort of tech has since improved, B) More experience with upscales now that the Classic Who releases are in full swing and C) to possibly fix the 'slow down' issue the previous releases had.

And just like with last year’s big Doctor Who Blu-ray set, the BBC image has a Blu-ray logo, but the dimensions of the case are for a DVD, which I assume means this will also be a 16-disc Blu-ray set in one big DVD case.

I'm guessing these are the same blu-rays that were in the limited edition complete set.

Very interesting to me that they recreated the titles and credits in the new upscale. Looks like they were just retyped at higher resolution rather than upscaling the image with text.

They also recreated the credits on the older upscale, but the text is too thick and also added typos in places. The new one is an exact match for how it originally looked in SD and fixes typos.

You know I think I'm going mad but when I looked yesterday I saw what you mean. Today however the old disc is definitely more aliased with artefacts not totally unlike interlacing scanlines.

The source material is aliased anyway, but the new upscale does look nicer (today). I wonder if they accidentally deinterlaced the caps (25p in a 50i container) and have fixed since last we looked?

Probably same everything. Same DVD-sized case, just with a slipcover over it.
