Default Comparing Movie Stars of Ole to Now

This is definitely the dumbest thread I've ever started.

Post a celebrity next to the celebrity of the past you think they resemble the most in terms of career trajectory.

Ex:
Sacha Baron Cohen - Charlie Chaplin
Johnny Knoxville - Buster Keaton
Jodie Comer - Emily Blunt

But harsh on Blunt being put in a category with actors who died well before she was born.

I agree, LOL. Blunt is one of the 'now' stars. She's hardly a 'movie star of ole', LOL.

WTF? Blunt is a 'movie star of ole'? Is Poya 10 years old? Kids today eh?

Aside from Tom Cruise, I don't think you could really call any current actor a 'Movie Star' now. He's the last one left who can open a movie simply on his name.

Disagree. I think he's a great actor, but I don't think he's been the main draw of any film he's headlined in since The Beach in 2000.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

I get the joke but I'd say Heath Ledger fits the comparison more. It's said that he idolized Dean.

I feel like part of the difference now is that people will pay to see a certain actor in a certain role. They won't automatically pay to see Robert Downey Jnr or Ironman but they will pay to see RDJ play Ironman. Even the Cruiser is becoming more focused on playing Ethan Hunt to bring in the big bucks.

I feel really thats were a lot of Marvels sucess has come from, they've taken a lot of these rising stars(or at least actors who hadn't become superstars yet even if they'd been around) and kind of grafted their personas onto Marvel characters.

Paul Newman - Brad Pitt

Both started out playing pretty boy roles and had more female appeal then as they aged, they starred in cool guy roles that had more guy appeal.

I'd say Brad Pitt's Robert Redford and Matthew McConaughey's Paul Newman.
