Studio Ghibli's first CGI film is still not announced for a home video release in Japan yet, even though a North American 2K-only Blu-ray release has already been announced first.
I am here hoping that the Japanese release will be in 4K, since it would open the 4K Ghibli floodgates. Walt Disney Japan/Panasonic, who also does Studio Ghibli films, already did 4K UHD releases for Innocence and Mary and the Witch's Flower so they can do it for Earwig and the Witch. I also have a feeling that the higher resolution 4K film grain and the upscaled CGI would make the animation better. Or it will make it look like a PS2 game emulated or remastered in 4K but with ReShade adding in film grain. Last edited by Hydra Spectre; 04-26-2021 at 04:54 AM. |
