Should be The Shining, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Full Metal Jacket, A Clockwork Orange, and Doctor Strangelove. I don't think that Spartacus will be included because it has been available for a year, so they could already include it in a 4 Film collection.

A surprise would be possible though.

I don't know. Spartacus would make more sense because Warners are distributing Universal's titles internationally.

That's true, but why are they suddenly including Spartacus ?

Probably because they can as the partnership started this year. I really wouldn't try to find too much of a logic in those french boxsets and it's just my guess.

It's probably Spartacus or Dr Strangelove, but imagine if WB had secretly been prepping Eyes Wide Shut for UHD? I'd cream.

Warners have included Spartacus in older box sets, e.g. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Stanl...Blu-ray/20820/

It’s not that random when it’s from the same director tho

Just providing some context to the collective bafflement of Spartacus potentially being included in this set. It’s been done before on Blu (and DVD) by Warners, it’s by the same director, and as mentioned the French love to put these box sets together with far less tenuous links than these, plus Warners now distribute Universal’s stuff in Europe anyway. Universal would still have to okay it, but this isn’t some bizarre left-field occurrence IMO.

Yeah, this one makes sense. I meant they are very much working with what they've got. Last year it was 3 movie set, this year it's 5. Nothing too deep going on here

I’m hoping it’ll be Barry Lyndon, Eyes Wide Shut, The Killing, Lolita, and Paths Of Glory.

Wish me luck.

At least it is more possible than James Cameron 4K collection.

I'm quite sure we'll get at least some of the Kubrick movies I mentioned on 4K BD, but not all of them in this box (or even any) I'm afraid.

As for Cameron, how about giving us at least one of his movies on 4K BD for starters. I have a hard time seeing that Terminator/Aliens/Titanic/TheAbyss/Avatar should not sell well on 4K BD. So I wonder who/what is blocking that and why.

How does that actually work. Isn’t it the related studios that have the contractual rights to make the decision whether to release an existing movie on 4K BD. Can the director overrule that and if so why?

It’s extremely rare, and some other directors who this applies to only have the ability for a portion of their career even. James Cameron has proven so successful during his career he has a bit beyond just having final cut on his movies now, he has say over many of them on home video even which is why certain ones still haven’t released even on Blu-ray. It’s also not because he doesn’t want them out, he’s brought them up before, it’s just a matter of him finding the time to approve the new transfers and extras and such. Honestly Paramount has been a pretty big 4K supporter, they haven’t put out Titanic yet though, and I suspect we might be a couple years off of that easy with how busy Cameron is with the Avatar sequels right now. I also get the impression Cameron really likes to create, which unfortunately can hold back some of these looks back more than we might like, ultimately I think we’ll be treated to some pretty incredible transfers once he does revisit his work again though.
