Default AMC Disney+ Day Secret Screenings 11/12/21

Friday, to celebrate and promote Disney+, AMC theaters are holding special "secret" screenings of Pixar, Marvel, Disney Animation, and Disney Live-Action films. What's secret about it? You won't know what the film is until it starts. All AMC is saying is that each is a classic fan-favorite and includes a short. Each screening is $5.00, and popcorn and drink packages are also $5.00. Free poster included while supplies last.

None of the AMC theaters here in San Antonio at present are participating (yet, showtimes won't be posted until Wednesday) so check your local showtimes starting Wednesday.

Oddly enough, Marvel isn't included after all...As for the rest, solid choices, although I'd get up and leave the Disney Animation screening if it turned out to be Frozen or Frozen 2. Got nothing against either, just don't care for them...Frozen-mania got old real quick.

Also, I wish these weren't all on the same day, back to back. No way I'd do more than 2 of them, and even that I don't care to do really.

If they're going to do these they need reach deeper than just the last 5 to 10 years. How about something pre-2000s? But then if they did that it would actually be worth promoting ahead of time instead being a secret.

Yeah, and remember each film includes a short subject...drawing a blank on Star Wars shorts, that might not include a short...I guess some will have shorts). Not sure if that's included in the running times.

haha, just my guess based on runtime. I've never seen it personally. I initially had The Rocketeer there, but saw Alice had the same runtime, and figured Disney would probably go with that over the two. Could be something completely different though.

In a just world it would be Rocketeer as a signifier that a 4K then is coming! Justice for Rocketeer!

I'm with you on that. But my cold dark heart says something more recent and very popular for each as a way to promote Disney+ content. So The Force Awakens, Frozen, one of the remakes like Beauty and the Beast or (shudder) The Lion King, one the recent Pixar sequels.

Imagine paying and sitting down to watch Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland in the year 2021.

Well now, that depends: is it being shown in 3D?

Rocketeer is too pure and fun for the world today. Is it just me, or would the film have been a lot better if the baddies had been Soviets? All the propaganda in the film seems to describe "pinko commies", to the point that if the film had been made in the 80s if it would have used them.

Maybe this for the Star Wars short. Would also help promote The Simpsons on D+ so it'd be a win-win.
