Default Universal HD cable chanel.

I was watching a movie on Universal HD last night, and there was a blu-ray commercial. Just found it kind of funny that a company backing HD (for now) would let Blu advertise on their chanel. Sign of whats to come?

don't read into it. channels will give commercials to anybody willing to pay them the money. they have been on Universal HD for a long time.

Just like stockstar1138, it doesn't mean much.

You see BD commercials on USA, NBC (Universal) and CBS, Comedy Central (Viacom Paramount's Parent)also. Along with HD-DVD commercials on ABC (Buena Vista).

Most of these companies don't care who runs commercials. As long as they pay. Also most of these companies aren't involved in the format war. It's the Home Video division's that are. I'm sure a lot of Viacom and GE employees prefer BD but it's the HV Presidents that decide that crap.

What movie were you watching? I was watching Bowfinger las night and I saw the commercial. I love the way they say Bluray is the new VHS. There are enough people out there that will buy Blu because to them that means HD DVD is the new betamax, and we all know how that turned out.

ah, soapdish. I tried to get my wife and roomate to watch it but it was late and we got distracted. That means they played it at least twice. I actually see it quite often on that channel.
Anybody have the MOJO channel? that station rocks.

LOL , this is been brought up quite a few times. Pretty much dont think nothing of it, there's plenty of movie trailer on the PSN that are from Universal and Paramount, is all about advertisement.

Used to watch universal channel until they started inserting commercials in the middle of their movies. Now it's like any other channel...

They've been showing these commercials on Universal HD station for quite some time. Sometimes they are back-to-back with the HD DVD commercials (which come off as low budget production, I would add).

I hate how Univeral HD has commercials during the feature presentation. I guess that allows it to be a free station, but its pretty lame IMO.

But the Bluray commercial they show is pretty cool. It has WEDDING CRASHERS!! GOD I WANT THAT ON BLU!

Just A thought but if you were selling a product would you advertise for a rival company that is competing with your product
That would be like a ford dealership haveing adds in there showroom for toyota
just my two cents

An ad is an ad.
You will see TNA advertising during WWE wrestling shows, and you will see dvd ads for all companies on all channels.
There is nothing to see here, it is just business and has been going on for a long long time.

Universal HD is a movie channel with specific demographics. They sell a certain % of ad space, and the cable network gets a certain % of ad space to sell on the same channel.

It makes sense you'd see ads for movies and home theater tech on a movie channel. Companies can by ad time by the show, the network, the time slot, or by keyword that runs on multiple channels. But it's all about marketing to your audience. The same reason you see commercials for tampons and Midol on WE and Lifetime, but not on Versus or ESPN.

Yeah what is the story with Wedding Crashers and the Bad Boys movies? BD has advertised both and not one seems to even come close to being released. Sin City is another one. They advertise these movies but they are not available?
