I see we remembered to include Coach.
![]() (Considering that here's a show that replaced major characters twice, and never jumped the shark.) Although I also have respect for Sam, as one of the few good male role models on TV, back before the 90's when males were allowed to have good role models: Yes, he's a goofball, but they counteracted that by hiring the perpetually-angry Ted Danson, and the mix gave us a goofball with strong convictions--He's master of his own small-business domain, has real friendships with the bar regulars, and openly objects to being played or manipulated by Diane's snooty posturings. He's an ex-Red Sox who doesn't know much, but sticks to what he DOES know. Last edited by EricJ; 08-26-2012 at 05:43 PM. |

I always liked Ted Danson as Sam, and I still remember sitting down with my folks in 1993, to watch the final episode of Cheers. I heard later on that millions had tuned their TVs onto that station just for that broadcast, which blew my young mind to pieces.
