I don't watch American Idol that often, but Ryan seems like a good replacement for Sajak, especially if the show's producers are looking for someone to stick around for another few decades. Vanna's in the middle of renegotiating her own contract too, so we'll see how this turns out.

She had to pretend Pat's amusing for 40 years. Ever try to be nice and pretend someone's jokes are funny? Shit is harder than you think. Now she has to pretend another doofus is funny.

Dream job. Looks like the show only tapes 30 to 50 days per year. But Seacrest is one of those guys who probably feels uneasy if there are gaps in his day without paid work. I know some guys like that even into their mid to late 70s who work upwards of 80 hours per week or so by choice. I've also known some people who retired and then very soon afterwards went right back to a heavy work schedule. Also have known a few social media influencers including one who has over a million subscribers and at that level, it's an obsession to the point where they may be afraid to just go on vacation for a few days in fear of losing their audience. I remember Weird Al stating that in the 80s he was constantly releasing material because he was afraid of being forgotten. Some people just love to stay busy and have a competitive drive.

Sajak makes 5x more because he does well over 5x the work.

Not sure either of them does much "work" on that set. She walks to a digital screen and presses it. He tells people it is their turn. Yet with the ratings and the money generated it is the Hollywood way. I would say nearly all the game shows could function without a "host". Yet would people still watch?

Why not reward Vanna for all the years on the show and let her host, Seacrest is everywhere.

Right, that is what I am saying. Would people have tuned in all these years if Vanna was not there? If she leaves do they bring in someone else to fill that role. I agree they should have let her host.

I wonder if actor Richard Karn was ever once approached about hosting the show. I love watching him host the Family Feud show after seeing him be Al from the Home Improvement show all them years earlier.

He did Family Feud in 2002. From what I remember he did all right in my opinion.
