Default Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970)

**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT**

More title reveals today. Up next is the 1970 sci-fi thriller COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT from 1970! First time on Blu-ray in the U.S. & Canada and stars Eric Braeden (The Young and the Restless) and Susan Clark (Porky’s).

The ultimate computer creates the ultimate terror in this chillingly real suspense tale. When electronics genius Charles Forbin creates a massive computer complex that is capable of independently regulating the national defense of the United States, it appears that no enemy will ever be able to penetrate its sovereign borders. But such a promising thought turns into a stunning nightmare when it's discovered the Russians have built an equally sophisticated computer and that these two "doomsday machines" have linked, sharing classified information and top secrets. Desperately, Forbin and his Soviet counterparts try to stop the all-knowing "monster" computers from seizing command of the world's nuclear missile stockpiles.

National street date is February 27th and extras are in progress. However, if you pre-order now directly through us @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/product...roduct_id=6536 to have the item ship two weeks early!

I've been on the verge of importing this but waiting for a low price/good order because the master looks kind of shit. Not promising that there's no mention of this having a different/new one.

Of course! Of course! Of course! Right after I buy the UK edition! This always happens!

Well, the UK MediumRare edition sports a mighty fine HD transfer of the film, looking almost as if it were shot yesterday, and the commentary recorded for the UK DVD edition from many years ago by director Joseph Sargent is good as well.

If Shout! Factory has the same transfer and if there are any new extras, especially an interview with Eric Braeden, then I might buy it again.

I'm glad I resisted temptation and didn't get the UK disc. Will pre-order when available.

Cool announcement! I’d like to see Shout bring out The Groundstar Conspiracy on blu-ray too.

Awesome! I loved this film growing up and I've never upgraded from my DVD copy. This should come with a slip right? The link doesn't show one.

Not necessarily. Not all Shout releases come with o-cards, especially ones that are not marked as "Collector's Edition".

First saw this as a pre-teen at a 24-hour sci-fi marathon and can't wait to re-visit; pretty sure I may have had a bit of a crush on Susan Clark based on this film...

COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT – A great, classic sci-fi thriller!

I've been waiting for a US blu-ray release of this film for years. I can now finally scratch it off my most-wanted list. Love the classic artwork on the cover. Thanks SHOUT FACTORY!

I've also been waiting for a U.S release. This, along with The Andromeda Strain, The Questor Tapes etc., was a late night TV staple in the mid-late 1970s.

I'm guessing the UK transfer is different from the one used for the german and french blu-ray releases (which are apparently plagued with DNR and other typical early Universal blu release issues)?

In caps the uk looks darker , can't tell if it's better or if DNR is applied . but for the price its well worth it .

There's also the fact that the U.K. disc does not have subtitles. The Shout release will most certainly rectify this.

I watched this movie a few years back for the first time. Very well made and interesting movie. I gave it a try after watching a couple of other great Joseph Sargent films "The Night That Panicked America" "The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three" I was looking at his list of films on IMDB and came across the "Colossus" film, really good movie. Glad to see it getting a Blu-ray release.

I wonder what kind of extras this will have. Shout can be pretty spotty when it comes to including extras on these “lesser known” titles.
